1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Blue and Gold Cell Phone Charm on: March 04, 2009 01:05:30 PM

I love the way the gold cage bead and the blue beads interact with one another!

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Ladyfest Entry! on: April 01, 2008 11:53:54 AM
So since there are so many people trying to get a spot in Ladyfest, there's a bit of a jury process. This was my submission and I've removed the text from the image describing the pieces since Crafter shrinks my images a bit.  Cheesy

We have: Cheery Cherry Cell phone charm, Champagne and Strawberry cluster earrings, Chrochet Bird Nest Pendant with Faux Pearls, Resin Collage Spoon Pendant, Multi-strand Swarovski Drop Necklace, Art Deco Earrings and a Multi-strand Floating Bead Necklace.

I think my favorites are the cluster earrings and the floating bead necklace. I'm heavily pondering making a pair of earrings to match the necklace.  I do hope I'll get in, however if i don't, more jewelry for me! Cheesy
3  COOKING / Dessert / fondant covered companion cube layer cake on: March 04, 2008 12:37:57 PM
So my friend Paul had his real birthday a few weeks ago. It sucked, mostly because my group of friends and i failed hardcore at planning. So we decided to throw him an excellent surprise birthday. We decided to pool our money and get him a camera and the orange box. My job was to come up with a cake.

3 Layers of chocolate cake separated and covered in nutella buttercream icing, and then further covered in marshmellow fondant. It was my first time working with fondant and i learned a few valuable lessons, like really covering yourself and your work surface in shortening is the only way to go. I was going to make fondant turrets to go on top of the cake, but i ran out of time.

friend 1: "so what *is* this fondant stuff?"
me: "it's a combination of marshmallow and icing sugar. You melt the marshmallows, stir in the sugar and knead it like dough."
friend 1: "...."
boyfriend: "i think he means, what does it do."
me: :" ah.. it make the cake look like a companion cube."
friend 1: "good. That's all i needed to know."
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Wire crochet birds nest pendant on: February 25, 2008 01:24:24 PM
For the longest time, I've scoured the internet for a birds nest pendant i liked. Most are just too *tidy* looking to be a convincing birds nest in my eyes. So i decided to crochet some wire and make one for myself. I love it far too much.

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Jumped on the resin bandwagon on: January 18, 2008 03:35:55 PM
I've been watching resin jewellery posts on this board with longing for some time. So i figured it's about time i did some myself.  I even made the gold paint by hand.

Yay for firsts! Cheesy
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Jewelery roll for mass amounts of jewelery on: August 13, 2007 08:23:11 PM
I'm moving and i decided that bringing a box of jewelery was unacceptable packing. But.. i have lots. So i made a massive jewelery roll.

at max it can hold:
  • 11 chains (maybe a bit less if you have big pendents attached to them)
  • 6 bracelets
  • an estimated 12+ rings
  • 1 big pendent or 1 medium brooch, or 2 medium pendents, or 3 small pendents or a 2 dangly earrings per pocket (at four pockets, that's a lot
  • a large amount of post earrings
Unfilled

Mostly filled (the stuff sitting on top of the pockets demonstrates what the pockets can actually hold)

Bottom and Top folded over in preparation for rolling

Rolled

Necklace detail

The Necklaces are held in place by 2 jump rings per chain. one at the top and one at the middle. One necklace is held down with a ribbon through the ring because of the naturally twisted nature of the necklace.

10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / A Pensive (or at least pretending to be one) on: August 04, 2007 12:17:35 PM
SO it's my friends b-day today, and the general theme for the festivities is Harry Potter (we're all 19 and 20ish, is this sad?). So  i figured i'd go with the theme and make something nice. A Pensive is it! Or.. at least a tin with a lid..that we can pretend is a pensive. Since Pensive's are typically bowls.. and fictional...

I think he'll like it.
