1  UNITED STATES / Wisconsin / Re: Wisconsin Thrift stores.... on: July 26, 2006 01:51:52 PM
I love the St. Vincent DePaul in Madison and in Marshfield, too.  Marshfiel, WI - A hospital town.  No shopping there but all the docs families take stuff to the St. Vincent store.  About 40 minutes from Wausau.
You forgot the best part.  The St Vinnie's in Marshfield is THREE STORIES of used good fun. Smiley

oohh I luv ur skirt that is too cute I love the colors. I was thinking of making me one but I don't like long skirts like that so I was going to make mines shorter like above my knees. Urs is too cute.
I made mine shorter cos I like short skirts, too, and I was anxious to start the border.  In retrospect, I would advise working the dcs and trying on the skirt to make sure it covers your butt first.  My version didn't turn out too risque, but I think I'll be wearing it with boy short style underwear because I have a hard time remembering not to bend over. Smiley

I love seeing this in the varigated yarn.  I'm usually too chicken to experiment with it. Smiley
3  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Exchange Bag on: April 24, 2006 01:04:11 PM
Ha ha ha ha.

So, I'm to the point where all I have left to do is the edging and finally realized why there is a WS and RS indicated at the beginning of the bag (I just assumed it was a misprint) and why mine doesn't look quite like the picture.

I totally overlooked the word "turn" for each row and just worked in rounds.  I guess I've been reading too much about those Japanese crochet projects.  Oh, well.  I like nubby things.  Cheesy

OK, now I'm confused. Smiley  I just started this and I'm assuming from this description that round three should also read to make a sc in each st not a sc in each dc?

6  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: I broke my book!!!!!!! on: April 09, 2006 09:44:24 AM
Ha ha.  I had to post cos I broke the binding of my book yesterday evening and a page of the Violet Beauregard is now coming out.  The spiral idea is great and I'll have to check it out.  I can't say I'm disappointed by the quality of the book itself for breaking.  I abuse books in general, and one that gets toted around, pressed open repeatedly in the same place so I can read and stitch and used just about everyday is going to suffer.  And I'm cheap, so I'd rather have the cost savings.

Besides, doesn't a beat up crafting book show that it was loved?  This isn't a book that's supposed to be placed on the mantle and never touched. Cheesy
7  Wisconsin / Wisconsin: Southeast / Re: Calling all Madison area knitters/crocheters! on: April 09, 2006 09:22:59 AM
I know that there are a couple groups in Madison and if you look in the Isthmus listings under special interests you can find some.  This week's issue lists the following and has contact info:  Mother Fool's has a group on Mondays at 5:30, Zuzu Cafe has one on Mondays from 6 - 8, Java Joint and Gallery has one on Wednesdays from 5 -8.  I know in the past the UW has had a group at the Union, but I don't know if that is still active.  I haven't been to any of these because I work on Mondays and Wednesdays.

I'm moving to Milwaukee in a couple months and I'm really going to miss the Isthmus' listings.  I have yet to find such a comprehensive list of goings on in Milwaukee (and by that I mean knitting/crocheting groups. Smiley).
8  Wisconsin / Wisconsin: Southeast / Stich n Bitches in Milwaukee? on: April 01, 2006 11:37:03 PM
Is that the right plural?

I'm in Milwaukee on Tuesdays and Thursdays and was wondering if there were any weekly groups that met up or if anyone would be interested in starting one.  I know there's some other threads about this, but they're kind of old, so I wasn't sure if they were still happening.
