12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Nice Metal Stars on: April 30, 2007 04:05:42 AM
Actually I should mentioned this.

Flashing is "Window Flashing provides an inexpensive and easy to install method of stopping water penetration behind siding" from: http://www.tamlyn.com

When you go to the hardware store, it actually comes with silver, then different colors, that which is the color that shows around you windows ( white, brown). It cost me about $5.00 for 2 feet.

I noticed that some people make really big ones (well buy I imagine) and put them on their wall, it would be so much cheaper to make them, and then look amazing about a fire place all year round.

What I did was spray it with gold paint then put a clear coat on top of that.

I suggest if anyone makes these, buy the smallest metal snips you can get. Its worth it, then just use a utility knife to do the slits, and dont push hard, or else it will make you have a star in many peices lol Smiley

Good Luck if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Nice Metal Stars UPDATED 05/06 added vintage looking stars (complete w/ photos) on: April 29, 2007 04:28:14 PM
I made these stars out of flashing, found at the local hardware store. They are cut out, then I made the lines tht you see on them and bent on the lines to make them 3D looking.

16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Figuring out the shipping on: April 28, 2007 05:22:23 AM
I am thinking about starting up an esty shop. What I am wondering is how everyone figures out their shipping.  I am sure that not everyone has a scale sitting around lol Smiley.

Interested in knowing
thanks Smiley

I seen a purse shape on craftster that I really liked so I took the basic idea of it, and made it my own.

The swirly flowers are the fabric.
