I know every generation of highschoolers has their name for the "punk" group of kids, at my high school circa late 90's we called them "skaters" and I'm not quite sure why but this quilt reminds me of JNCO's and Van's sneakers, and skateboard stickers.
In actuality it was inspired by a floral print from Denyse Schmidt's new fabric line. I just used all of the colors in the floral print (on the back of the quilt) to pull solids for the squares! I really love the way it turned out.
on the quilting machine, I took a long arm class at QuiltCon in February with Angela Walters and was excited to try out this fun petal pattern! It was freehanded and continuous line, no starting or stopping.
Here's the whole finished quilt, I had no helper readily available to hold it up for me so I just threw it on the bed. Oh and you can tell in this pic that its not very big, about 54 inches by 63 inches, a good couch size!
My mother's birthday was yesterday and as a gift, my sister and I bought her all new storage bins and reorganized her office/quilting room. We also made this pillow for her to break in the newly cleaned sewing table! We pulled all of the fabrics out of the new scrap bin and it turned out very vibrant and I think pretty fun. My mom loved it! The pillow front is a mini quilt, constructed the same way you would make a normal quilt, the only difference is that before binding, I sewed the quilt front to the quilt back, wrong sides together, and then attached the binding to both layers at once! My pillow is 20x20.
My best friend Alana is getting married in December and for her couple's wedding shower I wanted a fun semi-coed activity. I decided to do a photobooth using a polaroid camera to put together a little fun photobook for my friends to have to remember their wedding shower! I sent everyone their invitation on these fun postcards! https://www.andersondesigngroupstore.com/store-subcat-gallery_All.html I asked everyone to bring it with them to use them in the photobook along with stickers and markers and eventually we ended up using the photobooth props as well! It was a big hit and my best friend and her fiance loved it!
We played an awesome game of Mad Lib wedding vows and had my friends recite their ridiculous vows to each other, the best line of the night was, instead of "in good times and in bad" we had "in good times and in Oklahoma" (no offense Oklahomans, we're in Texas!)
This quilt pattern is from the really cool modern style quilt book, City Quilts. I loved the contrast of the black with the green in the original pattern and I extended my color palette slightly to include some jewel tone blues and purples and an aqua. I've never used solid black in a quilt before and I really like the contrast and the way it turned out. I don't know if my backing necessarily matches the front but I LOVE the super saturated colors and the floral print!
Quilt was pieced on my Singer and machine quilted by me on a rented long arm!
So I made this quilt! I'm so excited about it. Its my first full queen sized quilt for my bed. In the past I've made largish quilts that can go on my bed but in addition to other bedding, but not this time!
Oh how I love a good quilted pillow! All the fun of quilting in a quick, easy format! I made this last year for a swap and while looking through photos I realized that I hadn't posted it! So here it is, my off-kilter pinwheel pillow!
Here is an in progress shot, this is the point where I thought, this is getting christmassy... And so i added the brown polka-dot applique to cut down on the red and add some more texture!
The off-kilter pinwheel blocks are so simple too! I cut 5 inch squares and then laid a white and a colored square on top of one another and then made a slightly angled cut through both of them, then paired them with their color and angle opposite and sewed them together!
This picture was taken with the vintage setting on my camera, very vintage Florida beach house, now i just have to figure out how to get the beach house....

I saw the link to this pattern on knit and tonic and knew i wanted to make it. This is the second one i've made. Its made with Noro Aya, colors 8 and 10 I believe. I also added a crocheted slightly scalloped edging to make the edges look nicer.

Ok this is going to be picture heavy because Spectrum_sparksie totally spoiled me! I have some swap anxiety now!

Then we have the awesome altered puzzle (i had a couple of these in my wists!) Looove the colors and the details, fits me perfectly! there is some shinybits on the top left that is making the photo a little fuzzy, carolyn if you have a better photo please post it!
