2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / t-shirt recon (w00t....) rather asian inspired on: January 23, 2007 01:23:39 PM
I had this fabric from michaels for over a year... then I finally got a black t-shirt to recon so i did... finished approx. Jan 8th  it has 3 pleats on each side of the collar part's buttons, a tie inthe back, and a bit of detail on the sleeves.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / winter clothes... using limited fabric? on: January 22, 2007 10:43:21 AM
I was wondering... what can one make now that it's winter without having to use a whole lot of fabric? i have very limited funds, yet love to sew, and am rather cold...
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / should i continue in this manner? skirt or dress.... on: January 19, 2007 05:49:16 PM
so I was in need of making something... and so i found that i had this fabric and i decided to make a skirt...

as you can see this is coming along so so. I was thinking it might make a nice dress. I still have yet to hem the top and bottom seams and i should probably line it. it can also be taken in a bit more towards the top and waist. I could add a top part to it and make it a sort of summer dress as i don't have very much of the fabric left... or I can just wear a blouse that goes a bit better with it. (I should be making a "Gibson Girl" blouse soon...)
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / les monstres peitite!! [the little monsters] on: January 09, 2007 01:06:57 PM
we had a challenge in geometry to remember how to make these little boxes...

So, what with my fondness for cute little monsters that became my theme. now as it was the holiday season we did a gift swap
( we had no idea who would get each one) and so i filled mine with thwo treats...

his name is Charles...

he got little dot eyes after the pic was taken.

now one of my friends saw it and got all excited and asked me to make her a pink one with a hat...

so i did. even though she forgot soon after telling me what she wanted, so she was rather surprised to see him the next day. We named him Dr. Squee after the sound people make when they see him. my friend seems to be trying to make hime the mascot for the drama Techies. ^^
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / less good fabric? on: November 22, 2006 08:54:05 AM
is it just me or is anone else noticing that places seem to be getting less and less good, cheap, pretty fabric? It seems to be so hard to find fabric that isn't really "old" or "young". i have noting against the existance of Dora the explorer or little flowers (heck i even like little flowers some times) but it seems to be hard to find just what you're looking for (jersey in particular) does any one else have issues with this?
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / blue dress of sheet (please help!) on: November 22, 2006 07:52:22 AM
i made myself a new dress... unfortunately it has abit of an issue with the side seam... it's too puffy! if anyone can fix that it'd be great...
behind each of the seams (2 on the back and one on each side) is a bit of pleating to make it fit better. it fastens on the poofy side with 3 clasps.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / save the queen! on: September 26, 2006 01:51:31 PM
I have like 3 months to do this project but I'm still thinking about it now, cuz I'm exited.
we are doing a ginat interdisciplanary thing in our 4 main classes, in which we are in groups of 5. each person in that group researches a person chosen from a list of characters. each of thses characters come from a different time period and is a prominant historical/intellectual person.
for example, our group consists of:
ancient/renaissance/enlightenment: Sophocles
17th century: Queen Elizabeth I (that's me!)
18th century: Thomas Paine
19th century: Siegmund Freud
20th century: Jane Goodall

we are to research our people and then come together and write a script for if they were to all have a panel discussion together.

my issue is that I am a bit odd (to the rest of my calss and not to you all) and am ridiculously in love with the idea of giving us all costumes. my group seems to think that might be kinda neat (we just got the assignment today) i can take care of everyone except myself... how am i supposed to look like queen elisabeth on my very meager buget? (I'm broke most of the time and don't have a job)

please help me you creative peoples you!

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / flowery skirt on: September 24, 2006 02:13:22 PM
I made this skirt a little while ago...

please excuse the horrid resizing and bathroom mirror shot. it's the best I could do at the moment.
this is the fabric.

it has three pleats covering a zipper on one side, with a jeans material waistband (I ran out of flowers)
I hope y'all like it!
