1  COOKING / Dessert / Spots! Polka Dotted Cake on: September 05, 2007 04:39:31 PM
This was my first time playing with fondant...I was aiming for a cute cake, and what's cuter than polka dots?
2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Pablo! on: September 05, 2007 04:33:41 PM
Thanks! Yea, he was pretty excited....so fun!

I used the Wilton brand of fondant from Michael or AC Moore. It was easy to work with, but I'm not that big of a fan of the tast. I found a recipe tonight for Marshmallow Fondant that is rollable, and I'm going to give that a shot next week for my grandparents anniversary.
3  COOKING / Dessert / Pablo! on: September 05, 2007 01:51:49 PM
Here's a cake that my boyfriend and I whipped (4 hours of work count as "whipped"?) up for his nephews 3rd birthday. All he asked for was a Pablo (from the Backyardigans) cake...I think we delivered pretty well....

It was quite sad when they started cutting him all up!

PS...Fondant is way fun!
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: MS 3 on: July 13, 2007 08:13:51 AM
I'm in on this too...and I'm a late starter Smiley

I am just about through with clue number 1...but the last few rows have needed more attention than the first (I've had to rip back more times than I care to count or share)

Anywho...I am using KnitPicks Bare Laceweight that I Koolaide dyed, and Addi Turbo Lace in size 2. Love the needles, love the yarn (especially since it still has a hint of cherry smell), and LOVE the pattern. It's my first real attempt at lace, and I am addicted!!

Here's my progress so far (up through row 62 of Clue 1)

6  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Football-a-long on: June 20, 2007 03:23:16 PM
Inspired by Hockey Knitters, I decided it was absolutely necessary to start a knit a long for fiber lovin' football fans. So this morning, I got a site up for what will be the 2007-2008 Football-a-long. Check it out at www.footballalong.blogspot.com

Everything is just getting planned now, but feel free to bookmark the site, and if you are so inclined to join, pop me an email at footballalong@gmail.com

Hope to see ya there!

Hi All!
So glad to find this thread. I'm doing this for the Knitting Olympics...sans the buckle. I am swatching now with Knit Picks shine. Hopefully that will work out. What other substitues have ya'll tried?
