This was my first time playing with fondant...I was aiming for a cute cake, and what's cuter than polka dots?

2  Pablo! in Dessert by Girlinsoop on: September 05, 2007 01:51:49 PM
Here's a cake that my boyfriend and I whipped (4 hours of work count as "whipped"?) up for his nephews 3rd birthday. All he asked for was a Pablo (from the Backyardigans) cake...I think we delivered pretty well....

It was quite sad when they started cutting him all up!

PS...Fondant is way fun!

3  Re: MS 3 in Knitalongs by Girlinsoop on: July 13, 2007 08:13:51 AM
I'm in on this too...and I'm a late starter Smiley

I am just about through with clue number 1...but the last few rows have needed more attention than the first (I've had to rip back more times than I care to count or share)

Anywho...I am using KnitPicks Bare Laceweight that I Koolaide dyed, and Addi Turbo Lace in size 2. Love the needles, love the yarn (especially since it still has a hint of cherry smell), and LOVE the pattern. It's my first real attempt at lace, and I am addicted!!

Here's my progress so far (up through row 62 of Clue 1)

8  Felted Beads in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Girlinsoop on: October 31, 2004 04:12:58 AM
I have been using a new wool that I found at my LYS, and I find that while I am knitting, I get thee really neat felted beads on the yard. I guess it is from the fibers building up.
Any idea on how to keep the form? Will they loose shape if I try to use it for something?
Here is a pic: (Sorry for the fuzziness)

10  Re: PC Stitch? + x-stitch question in Needlework: Discussion and Questions by Girlinsoop on: October 10, 2004 03:30:52 PM
I have also used PC Stitch. I used it to create this:

It's a super cool program because you can choose the floss brand (I think you can choose from like 10), and you can also very easliy replace colors. Also, you can print out the pattern in a color grid, as symbols or as dots, which is nice to choose depending on the project you are creating.
I am using the program to create patterns based on my boyfriends artwork.
