11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: 2 thrift store sweaters = chunky mittens and scarf on: October 18, 2008 02:52:39 PM
I like the action shot too! Did you make the mittens you're wearing in it?

ETA: I just saw your other post. Duh. Anyway, they're awesome.

This inspires me to frog some horrible old sweaters I was given...
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: you should make Anemoi mittens. they are AWESOME. on: October 18, 2008 12:58:10 PM
These are gorgeous! I'm so impressed by how well you can knit after drinking though!  Cheesy

Thanks! It was just ONE beer, though...

Rhubie, I agree! A good story is better than a perfect mitten.

Amazing! Man-sized sweaters take so much patience. Nice work!
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Woo hoo! Going to my first knitting circle tonight! on: October 13, 2008 04:46:02 PM
That's great!  I'm a bit intimidated by going to one of those as I'm still not very good.

Yes, they'll probably sneer at you cruelly and kick you out! Seriously, you should go to a knitting group! People go there because they want to share their craft, so it's usually a supportive atmosphere for a beginner. (And if it isn't, those people suck and aren't worth your time.)
Have fun at your knitting circle!

Awesome. I hope you took pictures!
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help! Looking for opinions on fulled purse embellishment!!!! on: October 13, 2008 04:39:19 PM
I like the dots better personally, but it would probably appeal to a wider audience if you went with the removable thing like Pat in MN said. And it's totally cute!
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Gingham bag, and other FO's on: October 11, 2008 08:42:05 AM
I love the bag! Did you use a chart, create one yourself, or what? The cardigan is really cute, too. I had the same problem with a storebought cardigan and just sewed the damn thing shut.
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Warm snuggly hat on: October 11, 2008 08:39:37 AM
Good thoughts for your sister. A Malabrigo hat should make anyone feel better! It's a really beautiful color, too.

I have some of that yarn but only 2 balls, how many did yours take?
Less than one of each color, actually, and I made size large (which was a mistake, but I successfully shrank them a little in the dryer). The pattern instructions say you'll need 2 50g balls of each color, but I had enough of the contrast color left over to use as the contract color on some endpaper mitts, and I have tons of the MC left over too.

As a carrot myself, I can only approve Wink
Is it your own handspun?
