sarah...
that fabric suits it well...

yes, the handles were a bit tricky... the fact it is not possible to have the seams on the inside!!!
i also had to apply a bit of nailpolish and snip in a few places on the curve before sewing shut...

thats cool tho that your mum had a pattern from her school home-ec class!!!
all we made was a crappy tie-died fabric cat-shaped pillow! ..

well , thanks for posting your bag
have a musical day!

hey, good work...
and hand-sewing too ! ..
me too, ive been making my bags by hand-sewing  -
but hopefully you have been inspired enough to venture into buying your own sewing machine soon???
heres a tip - tell everyone you know that you are thinking of getting one, .. someones auntie or granny might be thinking of clearing out their spare room and want to offload thier old singer or janome!

but until then, if you want to keep busy, try smaller purses, for coins, sunglasses, tampons/panti-liners..
cause, like you say, those bigger bags lose their shape with the thin fabrics without interfacing.  - and the smaller projects are a bit quicker when doing the hand-sewing..

ooh, i made one of these a wee while back .... it was to carry my 'tampons and panty liners'  so they didnt get messed up in my big bag... funny!  (the tie wallet is a perfect size for about 6 tampons and a few liners) Tongue
