31  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: heirloom spoon rings on: January 31, 2009 12:21:47 AM
Very nice!  This is something I have always wanted to do!  Thank you for sharing your technique with us.  I have a few pieces of the flatwear I grew up with I would like to turn into jewelry.  It's not solid silver, but it's not cheap stuff either, so I think I will be able to work with it.

This is WAYYY cool!!!  I just LOVE it!  Such a GREAT idea!!  I am definately going to have to make some of these!  Great gift ideas too!  Who doesn't need more jewelry storage?

These rings are really cool!!!  So, did you drill a hole into the quarter to insert the jeweler's saw into it?  How much UMPH did it take to cut the circle out, and how did you get it so even?  Thank you so much for sharing your technique with us!

What did you use to heat them? An oven or heat gun?  I really love these!  I saw this done by someone awhile ago, but yours are much much nicer!!

What kind of paint did you use?

GREAT idea!!!  Has anyone tried shrinking them with a heat gun?  Maybe coloring them with colored sharpies?  I am thinking perhaps cutting one big spiral out of a bottle, decorating it with pens, then shrinking it?  I don't know what the proportions would be like after shrinking....not like it would be expensive to find out.  I think I will try a "test shrink" before I do the decorating part....

Has anyone tried shrinking it?  I saw a post awhile back where she was making rolled beads, like you do out of paper..  She cut the triangles, decorated, rolled, and then shrunk them.  Not sure how she held them in place whilst they shrunk with the heat gun...

I am always looking for things to put in resin or to put resin in . . . and I have lately been obsessed with making resin spoon pendants. They are the perfect size - I particulary love round soup spoons and little tiny souvenir spoons. Anyhow, here are some pics of my tons and tons of spoons (my friends always find me at the thrift store by following the sound of a hundred spoons clanging together):

These spoon pendents are WAY COOL!!  Is there any particular brand of resin you like?

I just LOVE these rings!!!  You are very creative, I have never seen anything like them!!!  What did you use for the base, or did you wirewrap the entire thing?

WOW!!!  AWESOME!!!  I Just LOVE this purse!!!  How long did it take you to make it?  Did you use any kind of pattern? If not, can you give me some basic instructions?  I've never made a purse before,  at least not lined  with a flap and stuff.  I'm not sure exactly where the best place to start would be.  My guess would be to create the fabric and do some of the embellishments and then construct the bag.

Thanks for sharing your amazing creativity!  I just found this crafters.org community last night, and am truly amazed with it!  I just love this community of crafters sharing their ideas and creativity!!

What an absolutely fabulous purse!!!  Did you use any type of pattern, or did you create it yourself?   You have inspired me to want to try one!
