Learning to knit is hard!  especially if, like most of us, you don't have a wise old grandmother to teach you all the tricks
Not for me!. Actually it's the other way around. I learned and I am planning to teach my grandma! I got really confused with some of my other knitting books. Don't worry that's why were here!
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: 23-year-old's security blanket needs to be retired...HELP!!! on: May 19, 2004 01:16:08 PM
Frame it! Like Jule said , as a wall hanging! You could just have one of the sides showing or cut(gasp) it in half for both sides. Or get a manequine and put it on that!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making rips in jeans? on: May 18, 2004 05:46:29 PM
You can use a seam ripper to make the holes. Then you can just wash them and they will get worn. Or you can use a disposable razor to pick at it ( BE CAREFUL!)

I love the polka dots! I made one out of denim. I made mine A LOT smaller because I only have about 3or 4 pairs of needles. I didn't use the cover flap thing. And there was some room underneath where some of my smaller needles were so I added a few pockets for stitch holder, yarn bobbins and stuff like that!

I also reccomend circular needles.  Like luv2cats72 said, I started on straight needles. THen I started Under the Hoodie from Snb and it's a lot easier to do it on circular needles. Because you can knit flat and circular with the circular needles and you can only knit flat with straight needles!

Wooohooo. I got my yarn! The gauge isn't the same but I made the swatch and it worked out fine. I got a gray for the MC, a red with little "sprinkles" of yellow, red and blue for the sleeves and bigger stripe, and white for the smaller stripe.!!!!!!!1 Grin

I made the stupidist move the other day. Angry My mom and I went out to my LYS and we were looking for a yarn that had a simmilar gauge. I thought the gauge was 20 sts and 26 rows=4 inches St st on larger needles. So we were looking and looking as I was getting more dissapointed Cry with each unsuitable yarn. Then tonight I look at the pattern and it's 19 sts and 26 rows=4 inches St st on larger needles. Duh. So I think we have to go back and relook! I hop eI get started soon. I have waited and waited for the book. I was reserving it from the library. I was waiting patiently for once. Then my mom's boyfriend gives me $20 and tells me to go get it from Barnes and Noble. So I go buy it. Then the next day I get an email from the library saying it came in ! Angry But it was a good investmernt!
