3  Re: Stitch Marker Swap (Sign-Ups CLOSED, Send by 07/12) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by ozarkcat on: June 07, 2010 09:12:56 PM
Well, currently on the needles I have a pair of mittens for DD (which I started on last winter and, if things follow true to course, I will finish about a week after she outgrows them  Roll Eyes ) and a pair of convertible mittens for DH (who, fortunately, won't Wink ) I've had a bit of a break from the needles in favor of working on some stuff for the arts festival we're showing at this weekend (so if you don't hear from me between now & then, that's why Wink ) Here's a picture of one of the purses I'm working on - I've got to get a better picture, but it's a very deep forest green felted sweater with a variegated marine silk cap & angelina needle felted in . . . . .

4  Very newbie lampworked beads . . . . . in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by ozarkcat on: August 29, 2009 06:28:47 PM
Hmm, need to look at a photo tutorial before taking pictures next time . . . these shouldn't be NEARLY so yellow! Warning, rank newbie pictures  Undecided

I've had a class followed by 3-4 short sessions on my own, here 'tis . . . .
first class

Playing around with dots, raking & encasing

Playing around with surface texture - should have melted in the blue one further . . . .

A couple frogs I was trying to put together - didn't finish the left one as it had started to crack

Playing around with encased bubbles & wavy beads

Playing with mavers & sculpture

A couple shots of a couple Pandora beads I was playing with

Well, this started out as a bead that I was going to try to rake that went south, but I think it'll work as a pendant . . . .

And three shots of an attempt at a focal bead - encased with texture

Hope it's okay to post here since I haven't found the gallery yet . . .

Received from n u l l g a l
Here's everything except the cloak - a beautiful patchwork skirt, tee shirt from my wists, two shopping bags w/Celtic knotwork, a great headwrap, barrettes, notecards, and some great recycled pencils:

She passed along an AMAZING cloak - I'm guessing she found some of the medieval stuff I do . . .

The tee-shirt is one I had on my wists! The print is actually upside-down on the tee-shirt, but have put it upright here for easier reading:

She apparently saw that I'm a Stargate fan, too, since I just got done with a Stargate swap - also sent some great button barrettes along, which'll work great with my long hair:

And here's the detail on the Celtic knotwork on the two shopping bags she sent:

Thank you Amanda!! This is amazing! Lisette (DD) has already run off with the pink shopping bag and one of the barrettes Wink

6  Re: Anyone up for a garb-along? SCA, Rennie, LARP, costume geeks? in Clothing Sewalongs by ozarkcat on: July 14, 2009 11:29:42 AM
Sounds cool! Indian is not terribly difficult, a choli is the most interesting part, but can be done easily if you (DO NOT PANIC!!) make your own pattern - we do ours by doing a duct-tape wrap with an old tee-shirt on, then cut off & use to make your pattern pieces (I can go into further detail if it's needed). Here are some pictures of what I got done for Lisette just before Lilies:

Wow, this has been a fun swap - and did I ever have to do some action shots of this stuff! I received from Proxima today - I'm really impressed at all that she fit in this tiny box! I got a wonderful Talya-style top, and a beautiful necklace and ring:

Of course, every good woman warrior needs an apprentice . . . .

A close-up of the ring:

And necklace:

The Stargate coaster - very prettily done!

Lisette modeling one of the Stargate pins (haven't been able to get them or the pipe cleaners away from her!):

And the wonderful assortment of crafty stuff, Stargate pins & stickers, tea & snacks!:

A close-up of the stickers - lots of tough, witty chicks (like me!) and, of course, all those long, lanky muscles (or, in other words, Ronon Dex Wink ) and the three buttons with stargates, logos & a really cool space scene:

Thanks Proxima!  Hope you like the stuff I've got en route . . . .

Well, finally have a couple quiet minutes to sit down - would have had these up earlier, but DH decided about the time that I got home from woodland_faerie's that the remaining sheep needed to be sheared - grump! And now that I've finally got the photo thing figured out  Grin

Had a great time in Joplin making new friends with Erin & Tripp (her son) -

Lisette & he had a great time!

I got a beautiful, big basket of goodies! The basket is soooo coming with me to Lilies War in a week or so!

There was a great fairy apron with lots of seeds - lavender, two kinds of morning glory, money plant and moonflower:

She made the sweetest little fairy chair! I've had to take it away from Lisette a couple times & explain that it IS supposed to stay out in the garden, it IS NOT for her dolls Wink

There was also some great rocks, a shell, a little frog statue and a BEAUTIFUL fairy!

Also some pressed leaves for future crafting and WONDERFUL fairy bells (which have also been taken away from the 4-year-old several times Wink ):

Thanks again, Erin - we do need to get back together again after Lilies!

Thank you!

Well, it's mostly done . . . . . Decided I didn't want to go with the contrast, so finished it up a little differently. I think I'm going to see if I can find a lace edging pattern to draw the front edge together a little more. So here 'tis, in 100% Sugar & Cream cheap cotton yarn:
