This is adorable... I can really see it as a dress! and it would probably look cute with a puffy sleeved shirt or something underneath...

23  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Designers for Target - Alice McCall, Tina Kalivas, TL Wood... on: October 13, 2006 11:20:45 PM

Wooh! Has anyone seen these yet?? I'm excited just because we never get anything slightly designer up here (Far north QLD, Australia).  I think they've started this because Coles Myer sold Myer... so now its just coles inc.  So I think they may be making Target into a mini-myer.  I love love love one this red Alice McCall jumper dress.. and while $120 i suppose is pretty cheap for designer it's still a bit expensive for me!

What do you guys think? I think I'm gonna make a rip-off version...

Hey this is really cute! I don't think the black belt looks bad with it lol but I have a weird fashion sense so maybe you shouldn't listen to me!! I really like the border its like the fabric was specially printed for the dress! Smiley

I like it! It's cute in a kinda disheveled way.  And I really want to steal your rat! Yay for cowgirl boots  Smiley.

Smiley i live in australia too and am trying to make a heap of dresses as the weather is just getting so hot here... lol. Do u have a zipper in this?

Yep, I've got an invisible dress zip in the bodice in the underarm seam. Smiley I live in far north QLD so it is HOT HOT HOT!! lol.

Wow this is such a cute outfit!  I've seen a dress in a similar style somewhere but worth big designer bucks and yours is much nicer looking and more wearable!!

As usual all your comments make me smile!  Thanks everyone! I  kindof made it up from some pictures I drew of what I wanted it to look like, took some measurements and went for it.  The bodice part I fitted on myself.  As for the "how does it stay up" questions lol well it kinda just sits there... I was actually supposed to make spaghetti straps or something for it but as usual with most of the stuff I make I really want to wear it somewhere so I get slack (hehe).  I've got one of those convertible strapless bras underneath because the dress isn't tight around the waist and there's nothing really to hold them up in the dress... also I'd be afraid of falling out.  When I wear it out I put a pretty white blouse or something under to keep it less cleavage-y

If I could sew good I would make a dress liek this but my boobies are to small to make the dress look good lol. You did a great job and it looks awesome on you!!!!

Hehe trust me there are days where I really wish my boobs were smaller! Looking at all those cute cute cute twiggy-esque dresses that I couldn't pull off too well makes me sad Sad.  But yeah I don't think this type of dress would look bad on people with smaller boobs, actually I think it would make it look less dressed up (having the boobness kindof makes it feel a bit dressy when I meant it to be casual-ish daywear.. hence the wearing tops under etc)...

Once again, thanks for the comments!  Smiley
P.S. I'm from Australia and its now summer over here! Yay! (Incase you are all thinking I'm weird for making a sundress)
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Summery Sundress! on: October 10, 2006 09:10:37 PM
I made a strawberry summery dress about a month ago with lace on the bottom then I saw here KateW made one so similar!! As they say, great minds...

The bodice part is made of four panels, and I gathered the top as a last minute addition so it looks a little rough.  The dress is fully lined because the fabric was very thin cotton.

Thank-you for looking lovelies!!
