rorosity, oh whoops! I started the Aspen Hat too with 19s. Guess it's time to frog!

Finished my Balthazar Vest. 

I barely used the 3rd hank. I might just have enough left over to make the Aspen Hat, which fills me with glee. I had some trouble with the back/shoulder shaping instructions, but thankfully someone on Flickr made note of the pattern errors. I actually did the shoulders short row shaping shorter than called for because it made me look like I was wearing linebacker pads. Overall, I am okay with how it came out. Now if only 5 hanks of Soft Chunky in Urchin would arrive on my doorstep, I could start the Best Friend Cardigan...

Progress shot after about 3 hours. Soft Chunky is awesome. I don't think I've ever quite knit with merino like that; knitting with it is definitely a pleasure.

Hooray! I just finished working on Cherry from My Fashionable Life!




I used 7 balls of Rowan Wool Cotton in Ship Shape (1 more ball than the pattern called for, even though Rowan Wool Cotton had more yardage than the recommended yarn for the pattern). Luckily, the eBay seller I got the yarn from still had extra.  I am extremely pleased with the way it came out!

Everyone knows that buying yarn online is not always WYSIWYG since colors vary by monitor calibrations and camera and lighting and other factors. I knew this, and still I took a risk in buying what is possibly the ugliest colorway in a yarn I've ever seen in person: Rowan Plaid in Soft Kelp.



Be not fooled by the subtle flecks of yellow in that photo, as in reality they are lurid snot green! Yes, the color of green snot! So now I'm knitting a shrug with 4 balls of this stuff and kicking myself in the derriere mentally for buying it without really getting to see it in person first.

I don't mean to knock on purchasing yarn online by photo in general, sorry if I come off that way in this topic. I've definitely had winning purchases as well.

Anyone else have some not-so-delightful colorway purchases from online photos?

I'm almost done with Cherry! Just waiting on my last ball of yarn to arrive in the mail so I can finish the second sleeve and neckline. The color is more like the first photo than the second.
