1  UNITED STATES / Tennessee / Re: Bizare Bazzar in TN? on: January 23, 2007 09:22:56 AM
Im assuming that we would have around 30ish vendors. So something big enough to house that many folks. It should be weather resistant seeing as Baz Biz is usually for the whole weekend.

I also need to contact Amy who heads the Nashville Craft Mafia (AMY! READ ME! lol) and see how she headed the Revolution of Craft fair thats going to be this spring. I wanted to be a vendor but unfortunately my BIL was in a bad accident and was in a coma for a month so I didnt have a chance to sign up in time Undecided

Sorry about your BIL!
I would count on way more than 30! We had close to 70 applications and inquiries.
City Hall charges $2500 (for the day =P )I know that.
Ours is at The Cannery and they charge $2500 but we had no problem coming up with the $ between sponsors and booth fees. We ended up have a whole whole lot of interest. So I think you should shoot for at least 50. I can forward you my contact list that includes Atlanta and KY as well as all the people who wanted in but were too late.

We ended up fitting 55 booths! YAY!!

I was actually just thinking about you and baz biz last night but was way to tired to compose an email.
Just let me know what ever help you need and I'll do my best. Planning The Revolution of Craft was really overwhelming until we really got the ball rolling. But there is definately a HUGE interest for more things like this!

I am definately interested in doing a sponsorship for your event when you get there with your planning.

Hey - Amy Here - Nashville Craft Mafia

1. i love screen printing (have a makeshift studio in my parents basement, they totally thought they got rid of me and my junk when I got married... oh well)

2. There is a craft group in town - the Nashville Craft Mafia www.nashvillecraftmafia.com our message board www.mafiatalk.nashvillecraftmafia.com/index.php - anyone can sign up and post.
and we have set a tentative date for our event The Revolution of Craft (Alternative Craft Fair Extravaganza) March 3rd... pending venue availablity.

3. There is a snb in Brentwood @ Threaded Bliss Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons, I frequent there. Also - Closer to Bellevue (I live in the B-view myself) there is Haus of yarn off Whitebridge road but I don't know their snb schedule

Plowhaus - an artist coop in East Nashville - there's probably more stuff in the little five points area of East Nashville that I don't know about
tHE aRT hOUSE - art studio on 12th south, they have art and some crafty things for sale and some jewelry
Savants - cool vintage boutique also on 12th south
We have an awesome Farmers Market
Check 21st Ave - they have some cool boutique type stores

Hope that helps!

Ok - New to the actual posting of stuff here on craftster... but I"m finally here.

I'm Amy and I head up the Nashville Craft Mafia with my 2 good friends Lauren and Jennifer.
We are planning a meeting on August 26th, it's the last Saturday in August.
It's from 2-4 and the fisrt hour we will be meeting everyone and mingling. The second hour is business only. We'll be planning our event and really getting the ball rolling.
I really should have been on here much sooner posting, but I do the website, and the myspace site, and I have a full time job and a toddler, so forgive me. I'm really excited to see how much interest there is out there. And trust me, this will not be your granny's craft fair.
Our event will be called "The Revolution of Craft" and that's our whole theme. Booth rental is $50, you can split that between 2 people if you want. Official Craft Mafia Members, whether Nashville of travelling from somewhere else, receive a discounted rate of $35 (they've already paid dues). This can also be split if you want to share a table. All this info will be up on our site after our meeting. We are still looking for a location to host the event. The street fair idea is nice, but would cost a lot after permit fees, rental cops and the like. So maybe we'll look at the street fair idea for next year once we are built up a bit more.
Our site will be undergoing some renovations in the near future, so keep that in mind when you are checking us out. The Blog has been replace by our new message board "Mafia Talk" at http://mafiatalk.nashvillecraftmafia.com/index.php. The blog is now going to be used as a "News" section and the message board will be open to anyone who wants to register.
Please feel free to contact me with any ideas, questions, suggestions, etc. I am just a person, who started a mafia, that LOVES crafts.
