11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re:purse fabric.. on: May 02, 2004 05:17:02 AM
I make a lot of my bags out of corduroy. It's tough, durable, you don't need to use interfacing, it keeps it shape really well and if you're not too confident at sewing you can use the ridges as a guideline for getting a straight edge!!!It comes in some really nice colours as well, but make sure you use a good needle coz it can get a bit tough when you get a few layers together! Hope you have fun!! Cheesy
12  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re:HELP! Why am I not selling anything? on: May 02, 2004 05:03:11 AM
Hi just wanted to say your bags are really cute and wish you goodluck! At least you have the guts to try and sell your stuff, i'm holding back!!hehe!! You have to try different things to find out what works and what doesn't! All i would suggest is trying to link up to as many sites as possible, you could also try selling an item or two at a consignment site such as cut and paste, then you will get a link to your website and it is good advertising!! Good luck again!! Cheesy
13  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Consignment question on: May 02, 2004 04:43:03 AM
HI i was just wondering if anyone knew of any good websites that offer to consign designers??? I make all sorts of crafty things, bags mainly though. I don't really have the resources just yet to set up on my own but the idea of consignment is really good and would give me chance to see if my stuff is desirable! I know about cut and paste which seems really good but just wondered if anyone knows of any others?Huh Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Hi!! Thats sounds so cool, I don't have a website yet but im going to work on setting up over the summer! Austin Craft Mafia is really good, it would be great to have a version in the uk! When I finally get up and running and get enough stock to start up properly I would love to get involved! Grin

16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re:First time selling at market / craft fair (kinda long) on: April 25, 2004 03:19:54 PM
I hope it all goes well, don't be too scared!! I just wanted to add that you don't need to worry about being really outgoing to sell your bags, if it was me I would much rather buy something off someone who wasn't pushy and in my face. Just be yourself and people will realise you really care and have devoted a lot of time to your items. Have pride in your work and don't let anyone haggle with you, these bags are made with love!!! Cheesy

Thank you very much for your advice it was really helpful. I think I am going to try and sell a bag or two on cut and paste to see if they are the kind of thing people would like! I also found out that there is a local craft market where I live so Im going to try that too. Thank you!!!!!!!!! Smiley
