1  Re: Woodland Creature & Enchanted Forest Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by hawkeyes_girl on: July 06, 2014 09:52:05 AM
I think there are tons of lovelies on this swap....I hope there will be a round 2 someday!

Thimbles sent me an amazeballs package. She really nailed my tastes and I was delighted!

We both sent purses! lol

The whole lot of goodies:

Book, card, purse, bunny mug rug, earbud holder, snack bags, journal and pouch!

A closeup of a cute little tree bag-batik interior. She sent a Wild Things card and a Fairy book.... Grin

The purse of awesomeness: It has 2 zippered pouches and a long strap that I knotted...it's SO me it's crazy. It is lined in the same fabrics.

She made me an earbud wrangler-zippered round pouch that you can put on a keyring!

A journal with embroidered leaf-love the fabrics

So thankful....I love everything!

2  Re: GALLERY - WWP Round 48-Ostara Basketful of Wonder in The Swap Gallery by hawkeyes_girl on: May 15, 2014 07:11:21 AM
I just found the gallery....oops.

I love the bunny themed stuff, so cute! Glad you like your stuff partner! I love mine too. Alas, the chocolates you sent did not last long.lol.

My awesome partner sent me a magazine from her country and some chocolates not in the picture.

Included were: 3 ceramic decorative bunnies -yay!, a mug wrap with Aphrodite in mind, a tablet-woven cord?, a nice card.....and.....

A cool collapsible basket! You can't see the flowers embroidered on the bottom too well due to poor lighting but it is great!

Inside o basket.

She also packed things with yellow feathers! how festive! Thanks! Her stuff was so nice and the pics don't reflect the amount of effort she put into her objects...they are all so pretty!

3  Healthy Eating/Vegetarian/Vegan Swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by hawkeyes_girl on: January 27, 2014 05:17:19 PM

Any takers on exchanging stuff to encourage your way of eating? Maybe recipe holders, decorated lunch containers, etc?

I'm trying to get myself back on a veggie loving path and would love to help others reach their goals too whether meat-eating or not.

4  Re: WWP Round 47 Gallery - Goddess Shrine Swap (Sendout 1/26/2014) in The Swap Gallery by hawkeyes_girl on: January 27, 2014 05:00:34 PM
Love it! Also love the rainbow colored thing on the L side of the pic....paper is it?

DragonChilde did well by me! We agreed to do an extra for each other,  I sent her something in return for an extra shrine for my boss who loves Virgin Mary.

Mine is the Triple Goddess.....squee!

My groovy shrine is made from I think a tea box. She made a triple panel on the inside. The right side has the crone. And a lady who looks a lot like Morigan Le Fay from Mists of Avalon....

Left and right sides:

The back which I like just as much as the front:

The top with moon and symbols of the quarters, I know it's hard to see in these pics, there is a fern and flowers:

The sides also have waxing and waning moons.

The one for the boss with bright polka dots on the outside to match her personality.

The two with electric tealights in them:

I love it! Thanks so much, hope you like your stuff too!

5  Hunting and Learning Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by hawkeyes_girl on: September 23, 2013 03:56:51 PM
Well, this quilt is FULL of mistakes. I winged the entire thing using tutorials and images from online. I picked the fabrics based on the recipient's interests....he's a 16 year old teenage boy and lives for the outdoors. It's hard to tell but I used some prints of deer and some Realtree camo fabrics.

I got my first free motion quilting foot. Used tutorials for free motion quilting, quilt as you go method and creating your own binding/binding your quilt. I learned a TON from making this, and I have 2 more in the works/planning stage before Xmas.... it took about 2 months with weekends and spare time used....there were weeks I didn't do much at all. It is a generous twin size, probably more like a full.

I know the back is wonky, it is part of the learning process I used related to quilt as you go. I learned that it was easier to quilt my strip then sew the strips together to reduce bulk under the throat of my sewing machine. Next time, I'm using a solid back to reduce the obvious wonkiness.

I used a low loft batting.

Comments and suggestions welcome! I am still proud of this quilt, it's the first one I actually quilted instead of tied and FINISHED!!!!

Excerpted from http://wicca.com/celtic/akasha/mabon.htm

Autumn Equinox, 2nd Harvest, September 21st

"Mabon, (pronounced MAY-bun, MAY-bone, MAH-boon, or MAH-bawn) is the Autumn Equinox. The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest of this year's crops. The Druids call this celebration, Mea'n Fo'mhair, and honor the The Green Man, the God of the Forest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizer are appropriate at this time. Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone, and her consort the God as he prepares for death and re-birth.

Various other names for this Lesser Wiccan Sabbat are The Second Harvest Festival, Wine Harvest, Feast of Avalon, Equinozio di Autunno (Strega), Alben Elfed (Caledonii), or Cornucopia. The Teutonic name, Winter Finding, spans a period of time from the Sabbat to Oct. 15th, Winter's Night, which is the Norse New Year.

At this festival it is appropriate to wear all of your finery and dine and celebrate in a lavish setting. It is the drawing to and of family as we prepare for the winding down of the year at Samhain. It is a time to finish old business as we ready for a period of rest, relaxation, and reflection."

This swap is intended to be a smaller one as I know everyone really gets prepared for Samhain not long after. This is a 1 point swap with ability to upgrade per partner consent.

Ideas of items could be decorated candles or candleholders, a special ritual or spell kit, an item for the altar or anything that pleases your partner.

8  Yummy dairy free pizza! in Vegetarian / Vegan by hawkeyes_girl on: May 11, 2013 03:17:35 PM
Hi all!

I am trying to go as vegan/homemade/healthy as possible so I got creative.
Whole wheat crust with herbs
Hunt's Zesty Spaghetti Sauce
Mushrooms, tomato and pineapple
I don't miss cheese at all. I put in on a silicone baking sheet to eliminate the need for oil on the pan.

1/4 of this pizza also only clocks in at about 320 calories.

9  Re: WWP 43 - All Around the Maypole - Beltane Gallery in The Swap Gallery by hawkeyes_girl on: April 30, 2013 06:43:20 PM
The hairclips are really pretty.

Listessa made me a very cool package. I didn't get pics of the extras, I traded her stuff for photos of Alaska for my Mr. He loves Alaska and all things related. She got amazing calendars and really cool aurora and sleddog photos! And a beautiful landscape.

Anywho, here's my loot!

Almost all of it together

Triquetra dragonfly earrings.

A Beltane May Pole Pen!
Action shot in wind:

Detail of beading:

Dragonflies and triquetra!

Detail of the leather deerskin bag she made by hand and inside: different spell pouches with all the ingredients needed for protection and healing spells. She added in a bunch of oils from a neat company that makes such things like Beltane and Helping Hands oils!

Here's the "may pole" on my pre-beltane altar!

Also I got a beautiful card I neglected to take a pic of so far.....whoops!

Anywho, eveyrthing was so wonderful and she really took my tastes into account for my items. I am ever so happy and thankful! This package made my day.....also I already wore the earrings for ritual tonight. Thank you!
Also forgot to mention; the "mama" bag that holds everything is also decorated in protection/healing stones around the top! She is absolute awesomesauce!
