I make a lot of stuff from T shirts but find that when I'm hemming a neckline.. it always seems to curl over.. the wrong way.. away from the body if that makes sense.. the hem doesn't lay flat against the body!

Now.. i was wondering if this is because the T shirt is stretchy but the cotton isn't?? How can I make my edges look like this?? Nice and neat??

I've read lots of previous threads on basting.. but I'm not sure I know exactly what it is, what it's used for, how it should look, what are the benefits of basting etc

Any thoughts and help appreciated!
