11  My Favorite New $1.50 Hat (img heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by missamorphosis on: February 19, 2007 02:11:36 PM
Joann's had some of their yarn clearanced to just 75 cents a skein, so I bought the only two of this particular one they had left. It's from their own Sensations Bellezza Collection, called Smania, which is now discontinued. It's a great 65% cotton/35% nylon blend that was easy to work with. At the time I bought it, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, then decided it would make a good hat. I looked at many patterns--even thought about writing one on my own--but having less than 4-ounces of yarn, I was a little limited. Then I ran across this pattern in 24-hour Crochet Projects by Rita Weiss. I love how it turned out; I'd been wanting to make one where the brim rolled up and with this yarn, this one does just that. It is now my official favorite hat. It's light-weight and colorful--just in time for spring!

I haven't figured out how to link pics back to my Flickr account, but there's a couple more there.

Thanks for looking. Smiley

12  "Soldier" Cap in Crochet: Completed Projects by missamorphosis on: February 16, 2007 07:11:47 PM
This is one of the patterns in the book, Get Your Crochet On! Hip Hats & Cool Caps, called Soldier. I didn't like the way the pattern was written, so I had to improvise for some of it. Overall, I really like the book and think it has some awesome hat/cap patterns in it.

The "model" is my daughter, who requested the hat be made in military camo colors. I really like how it turned out.

13  Re: Crafts for Writers Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by missamorphosis on: February 05, 2007 06:48:42 AM
My partner has received and asked me to post the pic of the items I sent:

  • A tote with crocheted flowers around the edge.
  • A journal jar with various journaling prompts and exercises.
  • Notecards printed from my computer.
  • A journal and pen.

Hope you enjoy, ihatemyusername!

I'll check the post office for mine one day this week.

14  Crochet Wire Heart Pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by missamorphosis on: February 03, 2007 10:45:52 AM
I recently made this heart pendant for a swap partner, and since she has received, I thought I'd share it:

The inside of the heart is crocheted with copper wire, while the thicker blue is permanently colored copper shaped to give the heart definition as well as a thicker boundary. The loop is made with the same wire.

15  Re: Fill-a-Box Supply Swap: New Years Resolution Clean those Craft Closets in The Swap Gallery by missamorphosis on: January 30, 2007 01:42:53 PM
I got my box of goodies from xmangaXfreakx today.

My favorites are: bag of buttons (imagine that  Roll Eyes), bag of beads, Lion Brand Incredible "yarn" (will have to find something cool to crochet with it), and the heart cookie cutter (I nearly bought one today!). My daughter claimed the purple dice beads, and my significant other decided he needed the wire benders.

Thanks for all the cool stuff! There was something in that box for everyone in my family. Smiley

16  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Round 2 in The Swap Gallery by missamorphosis on: December 03, 2006 06:32:35 PM
Okay, as promised--finally--I have a couple of photos of my yarn ball egg. Smiley The yarn is shimmery, very pretty, and there's some pink to go with it to help complete the project, which is a hat. Here's the items in the box before unraveling the yarn:

And there's the image of all the goodies, which are:
  • pink ribbon for the hat
  • 5 magnets, with a baking theme
  • 5 origami stars
  • an origami blue bird
  • a rose
  • 2 teas - Passion & Earl Grey (I love tea, and I don't think I even told my partner that. Smiley)
  • a couple of hard candies
  • 2 sticker sheets, with butterfly babies on them
  • hand lotion sample
  • hand cream sample
  • a rose scented yankee candle
  • Lip Smacker lip balm
  • a white chocolate truffle, which I ate while I was transferring my pictures

Thank you, thetiniestspark, for a cute yarn ball, and a great hat pattern!

17  Re: How's your Etsy shop doing now? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by missamorphosis on: November 26, 2006 03:27:15 PM
I haven't sold anything this weekend...blah...but I did receive my check yesterday for the book thong I sold. Now I have to get it to the bank tomorrow and see what happens.

I finally listed something totally new...yay...that I've been working on for quite a while now. They're cute, they're fun, and they're called Shadey Babies! Born right at the Shade Tree Arts Yarn Patch. Wink

More will be added as I make them; each different. There's actually a fifth one, but my daughter got him.

I really wanted to have more items created by the time December got here, and I know I still have a few days, but I doubt I get too far. Guess we'll see.

Congrats to all of you with sales & cool happenings! And Modus, that bird is adorable!

18  Re: November 2006 Birthday Swap in The Swap Gallery by missamorphosis on: November 26, 2006 03:13:49 PM
I actually got my package sometime last week, but I just now had time to take some pictures today. I got my bath items from patty_o furniture, and it's just an absolutely awesome package! I was so excited when I opened it. I wish I had posted then, but at least I am posting now. Thanks so much for such a wonderful gift!

I love bath products, and she sent quite a sampling. There was also a lotion sample in the box, but I used it already. And there were more Smarties, but I ate most of 'em when I opened the box. Cheesy oOo...and the cupcake--it's a candle--how fun! Yay for birthdays!

Everyone seems to be creating some great stuff. Happy Birthday to those celebrating it today!

As for me--you guys talked me into it. I posted a button charm bracelet just moments ago.

Here's a sneak peak:

Let me know what you think about the pricing. Too low? Too high? I was going to put it at 15, but dropped it to 12.

hi everyone!!!  just stopping by to let missamorphosis that I love that bracelet.

Thanks, snacker! I'm going to try to purchase some more generic bracelets today and see what I can come up with.

Tracie
The bag you have for soap would make great sachets for drawers, closets and such! People can put a nice smelling (or their favorite),  soap in the bag put it in the dresser drawer, and a great smell for their clothes!  Smiley

If the holes are small enough they could use other things like dried lavender, etc.

That's a great idea! Thanks, HSG. I posted a new bag today that would work well for just about anything. For those who don't know what she's talking about, here's my two latest posts:

Got-Soap? in a Bag bags

Btw, your Holiday Pin PIF is great. I've been snatching up PIFs lately, but have yet to post one. I have one in the works though. Too, I made this hat, which was kinda like a PIF. Smiley

missamorphosis - I think that bracelet is toally etsy worthy! I saw a necklace mede from thrift store trinkets and it sold for something like $35. Plus you already know there is a slight obsession with buttons in crafty circles Wink

$35? Wow, and here I was planning on selling mine for like 10 bucks or less. Looks like Ill be working on more to add to the store, though. Think I'll keep my first one. And yes...button obsessions are quite common. Cheesy Is it wrong not to want to share them with anyone? LOL Stingy, I know. Wink

sweetjaime - I think your clutch is cute. I've yet to attempt putting a zipper in anything I sew!

likespointysticks - That custom order is awesome! And what a bargain at only sixteen bucks.

tomatedepingles - Congrats on your Sampler acceptance. Too cool!

You guys are posting quicker than I can keep up, but I see some of you are crafting some pretty awesome stuff. Sorry for the long post, but I'm trying to catch up!
