So I've been surfing around the cyber-knit scene long enough to pick up on the love-hate relationship some knitters have with Knitty.com.  I'm still undecided.  Here are some Knitty originated FOs:


Here is my lovely sister modeling Kate Gilbert's Clapotis.  I was following the KAL for so long I decided I must hop on the bandwagon.


I have to make a confession about this yarn I used.  A few years ago my grandmother bought me a beautiful jewel tone variegated mohair blend poncho.  I hate ponchos.  I know, a knitter who hates ponchos?  So sue me.  I think I wore it once in three years.   And then I came across the Clapotis pattern... *lightbulb*  Aha!  I frogged the entire poncho!  (Sorry Gram!)  And knit myself a new beautiful wrap which- once it gets a little cooler (thank you very much New England summer!!) I will wear all the time.

I made this pair for my sister out of a bulky weight yarn that was sweater bound but never made it.  I added the ribbon  because gauge is important (fool me twice, shame on me) and they came out a little too big.

Thanks for the feedback re: limb grafting.  I just winged it as well.
Instead of I-cording the tails I used a knitting knobby/knitting spool. 
Awesome pattern!  These guys were my first four needle knitting project!

Hi!  I really love all of the unique, creative, and crafty ideas on this site.  I just finished my first felting project, "Yorik"   from the Fall '05 issue of Knitty.  I was surprised how long it took to felt!  I used 100% Peruvian wool and I threw that sucker in the washing machine about half a kabillion times with no luck.  The best method I found so far is alternating felting by hand in very hot and very cold water.  I used rubber dishwashing gloves with those no-slip ridges on the palms, I think that helped speed up the felting process.  Another thing I learned:  white/ light colored yarn may not felt... at all!  if it has been bleached.  Hmm...  So that's why I settled on the white/gray mix which my favorite 'knitting store lady' insisted still had some pigment in it.  And it did!  I added a pink bow for cuteness factor; and the only reason the 'boy' skull's eyes look black is from shadow. 
So, what do you think?
