1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: a slouchy hat that is not a beret - PATTERN ADDED on: January 04, 2010 01:12:12 PM
Hi,
Thanks for the pattern. I have never really had a serious try at learning crochet before but I have tonnes of yarn to get thru and decided to give this a try.

I used totally the wrong thickness wool though ( double knit rather than chunky) and also the wrong size hook. But hey it was just to practise to see if I could get the hang of crochet.

Anyhow it turned out well. Obviously smaller than it should but hope you don't mind I have modified it to use as a cover for the jar containing my knitting needles, Im gonna crochet some flowers to fancy it up a little.

I reckon done in the size I practised it would be a good way of using odds and ends up to make baby hats. If its ok I will make some for my local hospitals Special Care Baby Unit for premmie babies, will wait for your permission to use pattern first.

Many thanks
Trina x

I have dug out some coffee filters that are unbleached so they are brown anyway, but I have decided to just faff around and dye them with coffee anyway and see what result I get. So there are some drying at the mo.

These really are so so pretty and Im hoping mine look as lovely as yours xx

I want to use the same colours as your original model because they are the colours of the rugby team we support, Leeds Rhinos.

This is absolutely wonderful, I have been experimenting with pieces of fabric at college and this would be the perfect project for me to work on for my personal project.

Thank you so so much for the inspiration and instructions.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My first picture post and completed project of 2008, bolero and beret on: January 03, 2008 11:16:35 AM
Thanks for the positive comments guys.

The pattern is sirdar pattern no 1722, it only took two days to knit so was super quick, managed to get both items out of 100g ball of wool.

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / I'm planning VERY early. on: January 01, 2008 02:29:48 PM
Its my boyfriends 30th birthday on 21st December, I know its ages away but I want to get started on making it extra special for him. Kiss

Usually all his friends have arranged to go elsewhere so I want to get in early with the arrangements.

I've decided to hire a local function room but would like to make all the invites and table decorations and need ideas/inspiration for themes. Not sure whether to have a dress theme or just decorations.

He loves golf and any other type of sport really.

I was thinking of having it on the day of his birthday starting in the afternoon running into evening so those with children can attend but then again maybe have it the night before so it runs over into his birthday and people will be able to let their hair down.

I would also like to give/make some type of goodies for people to take home.

PLEASE PLEASE help.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first picture post and completed project of 2008, bolero and beret on: January 01, 2008 04:28:45 AM
Hi there.

I have knit a bolero/cardigan for my friends baby, been trying to get hold of the pattern for ages after seeing it in a catalogue.

Had some wool left over so decided to knit the beret last night whilst I was stuck in by myself for the new years celebrations keeping our new dog company.

Sorry if the picture quality isn't very good, the colour is more of a purple than it shows in the picture.
