1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / post-destination wedding reception invites on: August 12, 2007 01:58:52 PM
so I realize I'm going to need a bit of advice here.

I'm getting married May 31, 2008 in Bermuda.  We plan to have a reception (a very informal one at that) when we return from our honeymoon.  I can't seem to figure out how to word the invitations to the reception so as not to confuse anyone.  The invites to the reception will be sent out before we even leave for Bermuda, so I guess it would have to say something (loosely) like :

"Michelle and Joe will be married in Bermuda

please join us to celebrate at a reception in their honor

June 21, 2008
place
time, etc. "

I don't want to put the actual wedding date on there because I know that will confuse some people.

Is there a better way to word this?  Everytime I try to fill out the forms for my invitations, it doesn't look right.

(as a side note, I will be listing my DIY crafts on the craftalong...there are quite a few.  the list is ever-growing.  Grin  )

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Suggestions for a gift for grandma? on: September 19, 2006 05:35:16 PM
I was thinking that since my grandmother is the one who first taught me to crochet (when I was 8 years old!), and she's always admiring my knitting (as well as giving me lots of encouragement), I would like to knit her something for Christmas.  I crocheted her a really pretty scarf last year, but this year I wanted to do something bigger, like a sweater.

I was thinking maybe a cardigan, but possibly a turtleneck.

So I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for a nice pattern for my grandmother (who will be 84 on December 19th!!!).  I've been searching all night for the right pattern, but nothing is jumping out at me.  I don't want it to look too "granny-ish" but obviously I'm not going for anything sexy, either.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tattooed T-Shirt! on: July 17, 2006 05:31:47 AM
hey everyone!  this is my first post of a finished project.

i embroidered this t-shirt for my boyfriend as a birthday present.  he always says that getting someone's name tattooed on you automatically dooms the relationship.  so i tattooed him in my own way.  i thought he would think it's cheesy, but he loves it and he loves wearing it, too!

i used some dressmaker's transfer paper and drew up the design myself, based on the sacred heart tattoo.

i hope you like it!!!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need help on Knit & Tonic's Fad-Classic....pleeeeease!!!!!! on: June 07, 2006 03:20:26 PM
i'm really hoping there is someone out there who is willing to help me out.
here is the problem:

i bought the pattern and the yarn, got started and had no problems until i got to the increases for the armholes.  (which is not far, i realize,  but i tried...)

where i'm confused is that it says to CO 4 stitches at each underarm, but you have to cast them on once you're done knitting the WS and before you turn and work the RS, incorporating the CO stitches.  i did that for the first band, but it doesn't make sense on the second band because i would have to CO at the beginning of the WS to make it even.

does this make any sense to anyone?  i'm kind of hoping it does.  i have consulted the knitting master (a.k.a. mama dukes) but she also has no idea.  she said i'm a brave girl for trying.   Undecided

the part that's really bothering me is that i've read the whole pattern and i understand the rest.  just this one part has me stuck (naturally).  i joined the knitalong for this pattern (i'm making it in tahki cotton classic in mustard for a friend at work) and i asked if anyone there could help me, but i have gotten to replies yet.

is there a kind soul out there who could help me out with my problem???
