1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Picnic in the woods wedding on: June 14, 2011 01:14:24 PM
after the initial shock and awe of becoming engaged after 8 years together (oct 2009) the next immediate thought was omg! i get to craft my wedding!! then we set a date 9*17*11 (less than 100 days)
it took almost 16 months to find a place that was affordable place that would allow us to have an outside caterer and have our ceremony outside, with the option of inside incase of rain.  we finally have catering and a venue cake has been ordered and next up is finding a dj. in the mean time this is where im at in crafting.

this is my bouquet. no flowers.

dried golden and black beard wheat, red dyed cattails, red sparkle tingting, other various red dried florals with fake red berries wrapped with burlap and then a red gingham ribbon and a fleur di lis charm to match the mens boutounierres (we met in scouts over 10 years ago so its a nod to that.)

moss letters

these are for the display im making on the big empty wall of the venue, L - for lauren (thats me) and B- for Bill, they'll habg on the wall with some more gingham ribbon between with pictures of us growing up, me on one end and him on the other eventually leading up to when we met and through our 10+ years together and current pics. with my scrapbooks of our trips on a table below.

Bridesmaids pomanders

three of these babies for my bridesmaids.  each one is slightly different. the flower is made from a skirt i got for cheap at the goodwill.

ring basket

this onyl cost me about $3 to make.  the baset was only two, the fabric was left over from my card box and guest book box. (thats another post i dont have a pic with me at work of those yet) under the fabric is plastic bags (im recycling) with left over from other projects not sure if were going to actually put the rings in there though.

mothers corsages

these have the same flower are the pomanders. im letting the moms decide if they want it as a pin or a corsage with elastic.  im debating if i want to make a mini version for my hair.

ive actually got a ton more so ill be back with other posts.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / ive been on a roll with my beading on: January 08, 2011 06:07:45 PM
i wont bore you, on to the pictures

creamcicle earrings, light but lotsa movement

genuine pearls wired wrapped to silver hoops. i always get complements when i wear theses babies

i orget the real name of the color of these swarovski bicones, pacific ocean opal maybe? anyway they are gorgeous are the not?

i hand forged the ear wires for this pair of errings.  they are a tad long for work but look great paired with the necklace and a little black dress.

i only had one of these square turquios beads and im not entirely sure where it came from but it matches the rest perfectly. i also some how only had one of the turquios rounds left. so i put it on the end.

i made this one with some twisted bangles that i cut and fit together uniformly for a base for the clear and red flower i made. its a little big for my tastes though.

amethyst bangle these beads really catch the light beautifully

these white pillow beads are gorgeous, i put them together with black long twisty beads for a classic black and white combo.  you can see that the slight twists in the black beads catch the light.

and finally  matching bracelet.

thanks for taking a peep. tell me what you guys think

4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / help! giant satellite dich in my back yard on: May 09, 2010 08:11:05 AM
hello craftsters!  i am in need of your help!  in November we moved into our house and since then we have been racking our brains about what to do with the giant gray satellite dish that's behind the garage.  everytime someone new comes to visit its always brought up.  it hasn't been used in years and was pretty popular in the early 90s.  here the ideas we came up with so far, though none i think wold work.
-fire pit, awesome, however waaaaaay to pig.
-5 person snow sled, its got holes in it so it wouldn't work.
-dog house/play house, its too shallow of a bowl for any of us to get into and we dint have any kids plus the yard isn't fenced in so the dogs would never be out there without us to need a house

i suggested putting it on the front lawn with some neon lightning bolts coming out of it with a sign 'God is watching' but we dint wanna upset the catholic church next door, or and of the 6 other churches on our little street

so any suggests you got, well take,  I'm pretty crafty and have some access to some tools and my roomie is an engineer who finished our basement with the help of his Father and grandfather and my fiancee is good at holding stuff lol ill see if i can get a decent pic and maybe the dimensions of the damn thing.
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / door signs on: December 29, 2008 06:15:55 PM
so my boy friends niece and nephew all got new bedrooms for christmas.  even though thats what they got like two years ago.  and were broke so everyone got hand made door signs.

i got the wooden signs from the dollar store, i sanded them and painted them a base of white.

mackenzie (6) loves anything princess so she got this.

i had the blue paper from the dollar store a few months ago and cinderella came from a piece of paper i found or joanns.  i had the letters her full name didnt fit so she got her knick name.  and glitter lots of glitter.  unfortunetly when i sealed them (spray acrylic in satin) the wind  took them away and under a tree (they were only out there a few hours) and it got kinda warped and the paper ripped a bit.  she didnt seam to mind.

the youngest one joey (4) likes tools and i couldnt reallt find anything that was cool for that he also likes pirates.  now pirates i can do.  i took a white piece of paper and soaked it in some tea to age it.  and then dried it between some paper towels.  boys dont understand arts/crafts and it almost got thrown away which is why it got ripped but i saved it and put some brown ink around the sides

i found the compass at joanns for 50 cents (!) and just flued it on.  he also loved his.

i didint get any photos of the third one which was really simple  cory (11) loves the phantoms (a local hockey team and i just printed out their logo and on the other side i painted his jersey number (29) for his hockey team (the devils) in red and gave it horns and a tail and  the words KEEP OUT on the other side.  hes at that age where playing with his younger sibs isnt cool. i can relate.

C&C welcome.
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / stenciled shirts and more for everyone! on: December 29, 2008 06:02:55 PM
so im broke, i mean cashing in the change from other peoples couches broke.  everyone got something handmade this year for chrismtas. which honestly isnt anything new for me but this year i mean EVERYTHING was hand made.  im really proud of myself.

here's a really beautiful sage green scarf i did for my mom with a golden unicorn head on it.  it goes great with her renn faire costume

and a shirt for my dad,  my mom thought it was hilarious.  (fyi my dad looks very much like richard dryfues)

another for my dad.  i got the official star wars font from dafont.com which is where the graphic came from as well.  i love that site they've got tons of cool fonts and clipart.

also for my dad, he asked for this last year but i couldnt find a plain black hat anywhere.  so this year my mom found one that had a patch on it that she easily took off for me.  i really dont like the way this one came out but my dad did.  he wants me to add the word hat underneath (so it reads 'good guys wear white hats' but i think its self explianitory) thats tomorrows project.

the oldest of my two brothers is a pirate like me and so he got this shirt. font from dafont.com again  however when he washed it ALL of the ink came off of it.  i think it was because i mixed a few colors together.  which is the ont thing i did differently from the 100 other shirts ive done in my time.  they were all the same brand.  oh well ill do it again.

(do not meddle in the affairs of pirates for they are quick to anger and not very subtle)

now the youngest of my two brothers is a ninja lover and on sheer principal alone my pirate half couldnt bring myself to make a ninja shirt.  hes really good at the rubiks cube (like under a minute) and he wanted a shirt so here it is

and one last photo, every year my mom gets us new stockings usually from the dollar store and these were so pretty so i jazzed them up instread of sharpie (which is what my mom would have done) with some textile ink again and some glitter! font again from dafont.com. i told you i loved that site

ive got a few in process photos if anyone is interested.
c&c welcome
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / pirate ship pendant on: December 29, 2008 05:47:10 PM
so i am a pirate at heart, but you honestly wouldnt tell my the look of me.  okay well thats not exactly true.  i have to wear a uniform at work, but when im at home imma true pirate girl.  so to ward off mean/annoying people while im at work i wear this.

its a bit heavy ill admit but i usually only wear it when i feel as though its going to be one of those days....

its made from a large clear flat sided marble,  like the ones you'd put in the bottom of a vase.  with a pirate ship mod podged to the flat side then covered with sculpey and baked.  i LOVE it.  i plan on making some more of these only with the smaller marbles.
8  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / custom ornaments on: December 15, 2008 09:16:53 PM
these are jsut a few of the more exciting ornaments ive done and past few weeks.

group shot

skull and a bottle of JD for my oldest brother

eagles helmet for my dad and a cowboy boot and hat for my boyfriends sister and mom they like country

ninja and nunchucks for my youngest brother

JD again, wizard hat for my dad and a mario shroom for my youngest brother

elephant dressed as a clown for my oldest brother because his friend katie loves elephants but hates clown.  i feel kinda bad making it cause i like her.  and my little blue dude.

next on really isnt an ornament its a fairy door.  we saw these t the ren faire and my mom loved them.  its got an incomplete fairy too.  she needs hair but im at a loss at how to do it,  any suggestions??

i call this one the wine cellar.  complete with empty bottles. lol

close up of bald fairy lol.  i used the wings from an old butterfly ornament and changed them up a bit.

comments welcome.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / what ive been up to on: December 12, 2008 11:01:35 PM
ive recently discovered jewelry making and all the wonderful things at ac moore and michaels and sometimes joann fabrics. and im truely additced to it now.  heres what ive been doing the last few days.

this first bracelet took me 4 hours to complete and i was inspired by some of the things ive seen around here and i just new i had to make one.  my boyfriend thinks its ugly but what does he know.  its made of over 200 beads and 95 head pins  i call it OOOOH Shiny

the next three are close ups of some of the beads used.
a bit blurry

the next piece is a recon, it was my grandmothers and she liked butterflies. heres the before

and the after i LOVE anything strawberry. and since my boyfriend insists that no one wears clay i made little strawberries from polyclay.  i love it.

my mom liked something similar to this in a catalog and since im unemployed clay is better than silver.

and since that one turned out so well i made one for my boy friends sister.  she has threr kids so she gets three stones  (my om also three kids but oh well)  i think im gonna wrap it all pretty and sneak it under their tree from santa.    hee hee

this one is also for my mom  i think itll go well with her ren faire costume

and because she likes longer chains and they usually dont have a clasp i made her one with a magnetic clasp so she can do it her self.  Smiley  i was so excited when i found that in the store i squealed.

and another bracelet for my ren faire costume.  im a pirate. i think i might wear it all the time though.  i wish i had a before picture.  it was just wooden beads with angels and i painted them black and covered them with pirate-y things. and added red beads between.

its kinda small but let me know what you think!

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / newbie with jewelry **pic heavy** on: December 01, 2008 10:52:26 AM
Hello everyone
this is my first attempt at jewelry making.  I wanted to do it as Christmas presents and since I'm a newbie i thought i should start extra early (like mid-october lol) but as everything was coming together wonderfully i just kept going and now Ive got several pairs of earrings and a couple of bracelets and some pendants.

first up:

red and black earrings i made these for myself just to start off and i really like them although they are a bit heavy so i don't wear them dancing or anything.

blue star earrings for my BFF Leslie.  she likes stars and the color blue.

the bracelet goes with her earrings.  its a recon i guess.  i took apart something my grandmother had.  i like reusing items.  needs a bit of cleaner and is good to go.

light blue cuff  this one is for my other BFF Alicia.  she has a thicker wrist and is always looking for some cute bracelets that fit so i made her a simple but shiny cuff.

large hoop earrings  these earrings are also for Alicia.  she likes simple but bold.

small hoops  i might give these to my mom, I'm not sure yet they are bigger than she usually wears.  or i might try to sell them.

brown neutral earrings  these are also something that Ive reused and the only post earrings Ive done so far.  i might give them to my boyfriends mom although shes not flashy in anyway.  she usually wears just some studs.

pink and blue earrings i think these are the ones i like the least.  the darker beads are blue with very fine sparkles in them.  its very hard to tell.

dragonfly sculpey pendant  Ive also been working with scupey and Ive also fallen in love with that as well. Ive got some ornaments baking now.  here is my first pendant.  my boyfriend is convinced "no one wears clay"  whatever.  its a flat sided glass marble you would put in the bottom of a vase with a dragonfly from a scrap piece of paper mod podged on and then covered with clay and baked.

last one i swear.
vintage initial cuff  this was an old skool Avon bracelet my mom had.  its actually a locket.  the front was boring so i made it pretty with some clay and put L on it for my first name and baked.  it still opens just not as wide.

please let me know what you think.  my friends and family always tell me everything is great so id like some real feed back.
