1  Men's XL Sweater --> Tunic Sweater in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by AzureStars on: October 09, 2008 03:38:15 PM
After reading the tutorial here, http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=218058.0, I was inspired to create my own!

I really want to make a sweater dress to wear to the wedding I'm attending next month, but I figured I better have some practice runs first. I'm still pretty new to sewing, and haven't really done much other than bags/purses.

So I took a men's XL cashmere sweater from the thrift and turned it into a tunic-length sweater for myself! The sleeves are a little wonky, but I'm still pretty excited about how well it all turned out.

I received my *wonderful* package today from ptarmic wumpus! Bear with me, I have tons of photos.

First, an amazing table runner made from a pillowcase and napkins(two pictures because I couldn't get a decent one of the whole thing):

Next is a bag with a painted white tiger. So cute! Will be great for carrying my knitting and other necessities when walking to/from the bus stop.

Bird t-shirt! I had one on my ongoing wish swap list <3

A needle roll. I don't think she could have picked a better fabric combination. And look at that pretty ribbon!

Wheat filled heat pad. I've been wanting one of these for a while, and I think the bf will like it as well!

Knitting cards(each card has a pattern!) and a pair of circular needles, stitch markers and a yarn needle. She sent them in this cute little bag as well.

Craft book and tornado preparedness sheets:

Cute little mouse toys for my kitties:

Plus an action shot!

And, oodles of fabric. My mom sews, so I'll have to con her into ask her nicely to sew me some things.  Grin

Eek...almost forgot, her shopping list:
Fabric grab bag: $2
Wheat beanies: $.50
T-shirt: $1.50
Knitting cards: $3
Craft book: $1.50
Pillowcase: $.50
Napkin set: $1

I actually didn't count any of the stitches on row 6

I just went on ahead and everything turned out just fine. I also cast on less than the pattern said.

^^I like how the colors knit up on that one  Cheesy

Funny how the cheapie Red Heart has some pretty great colors.

I made a second calorimetry last night...and I'm so, so happy with the way it turned out!
(Sorry for the crap pictures...apparently I can't take them well today, heh.)
