1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Taffeta advice? on: May 02, 2010 03:12:33 PM
I have a prom dress that I need to take in for June. It fit when I bought it... 3 years ago. But I've lost a bit of weight and the damn thing falls off now Sad It needs to be taken in about 2-3 inches.

I'm pretty sure the fabric is taffeta, so does anyone have ANY tips at all to make this hopefully go smoother (thread, needles, etc?)? I'm not horrible at sewing, but I'm not very experienced either Tongue
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Red/Orange Quilt on: May 07, 2009 06:29:58 PM
I'm posting this quilt on behalf of my mother, who took many, many hours to complete this project. It's the first quilt she's done in many years, and I just so happened to be the lucky recipient. Of course I chose bright colours, cause yeah, pastels aren't my thing.  Wink It's a double, btw. (And I apologize for the cell pics, my camera went on the fritz and died quite a while ago. I should really be looking into a replacement one, hmmm...)

And the quilter herself...

Comments would be very much appreciated  Smiley

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Mirror Tiles? on: August 13, 2008 11:23:59 AM
I've had some 12"x12" mirror tiles hanging around for awhile and was just wondering about how I might stick them on the wall in my bedroom? Is there something special I need to get, or is there something else I can use?

Any help is greatly appreciated  Smiley
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / A Couple ATCs... More added 05/12/2008! on: May 06, 2008 08:39:01 AM
I'm not new to making them, I just have never posted for some reason, haha! So anyway, forgive my scanner for being a 'tard, the fishie card's yellow/pink are both lovely and bright in person and I still need to learn to use fancy complex editing programs  Grin

What do you think? More?   Huh Smiley

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Kitty Hat on: December 22, 2007 02:31:32 AM
After being deathly jealous over a friend's kitty hat, I decided I needed to be a kitty as well. Alas, she spent $30 on a few pieces of fleece sewed together, and I don't have the extra money for that. So I decided to crochet one instead and this is what I came up with...

Crocheted with some random worsted weight yarn I had laying around that I don't remember buying and a 4 mm hook. It's really comfy, meow!  Cheesy

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Melted Bead Candle-holders on: December 22, 2007 12:35:06 AM
Ok, I'm not really sure where else to really post these, but candle holders are for the home are they not? Anyway, feedback would be appreciated as I'm thinking of giving them away as gifts. I apologize for the crappy cell pics, my digi cam has died and I haven't gotten another yet...

They are seriously VERY prettier in person! Really bright too.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Peguin, Whale, and Froggy earrings? OH yes! on: June 11, 2007 06:29:51 PM
So I made Gummi bear earrings before, and liked the way they were holding out. So it inspired me to take my love of candy even further, and come up with this little critters:

Oh! I'm so in love! And my wiring skills are defiantly less than perfect, but I was slightly in a hurry and they're only for me to wear. I've had a couple requests for the froggy ones, they'll no doubt be a lot better. And one girl said she's going to wear them to our prom, yay!  Cheesy
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Making tiaras? on: May 30, 2007 03:11:16 PM
So, I got lazy and now realize that the tiara I wanted to buy for my prom might not get here in time. Sooo, I was thinking of making my own.

Does anyone know of any sort of tutorial for doing this? Thanks.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Gummi bear earrings... on: May 26, 2007 09:49:59 AM
Just a couple pairs of gummi bear earrings I made last night. I'm in love  Smiley

Forgive the web cam pics, my camera's on the fritz  Angry

Neat, yes/no?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I made a skirt! Polkadots and tulle! on: January 30, 2007 06:54:20 PM
So, this is the first thing I've ever really sewed...it's just a basic circle skirt made with some awesome fabric I picked up, with 2 layers of black tulle underneath. It's not the best...but for my first try I think it's ok.

I still need to finish it off, but I was excited! So, what do you think?
