this is the outside of the tin (the two beetles are magnets!)

she made me my very first microscope slide pendant and a super cute beaded dragonfly necklace

krista gave me some asst buttons, charms, and plastic flies!

and also sent (!) a bug stencil book, bug trading cards/magnets, bug model making stuff, and a beautiful butterfly card

i love love loved everything and WYOKrista was fantastic! I loved this swap! and a special "Thank You" to Kishcrafts for organizing!!!!

16  finger pen in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Avril222 on: August 06, 2007 08:23:51 PM
that's right...exactly as it sounds.

so yeah, i know everyone has a ball covering bic pens with sculpey...we all started it in elementary school and some of us grew out of it. clearly, i have not.

so here it is, in all its fleshy glory. i should note that i used super sculpey because it was on sale and i had never played with it before so, yeah, anywho, here it is:

lost in thought

full pen

real finger?

i was going to do a side by side of the clay finger and my real finger but i was so horrified that the clay fingernail looked insanely better than mine that i could not post it.

you like?

interestingly enough, the post no longer ends there...
my friend roberto just sent me a photo that proves that this is actually the 2nd!!! finger pen that i have made. the first was a gift that, clearly, only he could appreciate...

17  white rose on bronze chain...ta da! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Avril222 on: August 06, 2007 08:15:48 PM
so...i almost posted this in the recon section of trinkets and jewelry because the chain is made from an old belt that i found at this thrift store oona's but...the rose is itself is new so i figured this would work. but then i got to thinking that the rose is actually made out of sculpey clay so i should post it on the poly clay board, but i am going to bite the bullet and put it here for now!

i made the rose out of sculpey III ivory clay. you can't see it in the terrible pictures that i took but i ran some gold shimmer around the edges of the petals and some peach shimmer on the crease of each petal. i stuck some wire in the back of the rose and attached it to the chain, jumpring style.

this is with the flash so you can get the jist

this is closer up so you can see the rose a little better

and this is even closer

what do you think?

18  Barbershop Frog Puppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Avril222 on: July 28, 2007 06:20:23 PM

so, i made him a few months ago for my boyfriend who needed a .....
frog puppet for this show that he was working on. he took me days of planning, i am embarrassed to say, the figure out how to make a puppet body that would attach to a head that would actually let me move the mouth and be fully stuffed to look like a frog. this was my first attempt at a puppet. not having any idea how to make him, i ended up using loads of felt, poly fill, some tiger eyes from pearl craft, and about 8 million hours of sewing by hand. needless to say, i was thrilled when i was finally done. i think he came out pretty cute and that the pictures don't do him justice...
i love comments and gentle criticisms, but dont be too harsh, he's my first attempt

from the front...

a side view...

and singing his heart out...

20  scratch...a modern (chicken) hero in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Avril222 on: July 05, 2006 07:11:40 AM
my boyfriend works for an animation company based here in massachusetts and writes about superheroes
thus, scratch was born....he is rooster made out of sculpey III clay with a taste for moonshine. his character is supposed to be a sort of tired, dejected, past his prime chicken. his back side is kinda neat but i dont have a camera right now so no butt shots. yeah, so...tell me what you think! comments are really appreciated!

without further ado, the total body...

a different angle...

and a face only a mother could love...
