11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Bamboo planter pots on: April 05, 2014 12:20:48 AM

I have 3 lucky bamboo in my kitchen and wanted to make a set of tall planter pots for them with water slide decals.

These are hand build Raku, 2 were covered in earthernware slip, not to self the 2 bodies don't mesh so well, the 3rd I painted with a white glaze only.

The images were applied as water slide decals.

I love the way they turned out.

we use this technique to make molds for slip casting in ceramics.

If the clay dries before you pour plaster on it wicks the water from the plaster and it dries to quickly and creates air bubble and ripples etc.

Great tutorial, you could also try it using salt clay or dough clay.

What an awesome job.

Did you create your own pattern or did you download/buy it from somewhere?

yep exactly what pjr107 said use stilts and then use a dremel to smooth over the rough spots.

or you can leave the back unglazed, which I did.

awesome spoon .
I made some but out of 10 spoons only 3 survived in tact.... I kept breaking them as I cleaned them. Smiley
