2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sewing needles for old machines on: November 21, 2006 06:39:56 PM
I just bought an old Montgomery Ward 7 jewel zig zag machine. Everything seem to be in working order... except no needle. I tried using the needle on my machine, but it won't hold.

Anyone know what needle I'm supposed to be using for it?
3  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / The Baxter Dress on: November 14, 2006 09:20:35 AM

For any of you who have seen this movie, is this dress cute or what?!? It totally reminds me of dresses I used to wear when I was younger

I'd love to make one for the holidays, but I can't find many images online of this dress. From what I'm guessing... the front is kinda square and low cut, cause in some scenes there's some cleaveage peeking through the lace. The sleeves... well that doesn't really matter.

I think the biggest problem would be the back. I think there are buttons running down the back of it. If they're functional or for show... who knows. I'm guessing it's a black dress... but who knows, it could be a very dark green. Velvet even? No... that would be too much like a children's dress!  Huh

If you've seen the movie, please help me figure it out!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Belated clutches! NOW WITH TUTORIAL on: October 01, 2006 11:41:11 PM
So two of my cousin's birthdays were last month and because I live far away I wasn't able to get them anything. Anyways, I finally got some free time and whipped these up for them. Hopefully they like it!!

Side by side... and in their favorite colors. The green polka dot is from a curtain I got on sale.  The pink isn't finished in the picture, but it's finished now. I wasn't too sure about the black ribbon, but it's really starting to grow on me  Grin

And the backside. I sewed down the middle of those ribbons with an tourquoise thread, for even more color pop.

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Thoughts on my shop on: August 31, 2006 02:22:43 PM
I've been going gung ho on promoting (free online and print ads) but I haven't seen a budge. So I figured there might be something wrong with the site.

photos - i've found links on how to take better photos of my items, and i have some for the new things I'll be adding.
pricing - always hard. I think i might have been high on one, but now that's lowered and i think it's pretty fair.

Please tell me what you think.

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / The site is down!! on: August 11, 2006 03:04:33 PM
The Barry's Farm Silk Screen Tutorial is no longer up!

Does anyone know of a tutorial similar to that one? I thought it was one of the better ones.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Pre-clean dry-clean-only fabric? on: June 01, 2006 03:12:26 PM
I did some fabric shopping and scored some really awesome pieces.

The problem. They are upholstery fabrics and most have been scotchgarded and say dry clean only. Normally I prewash, but this is new to me. Should I prewash them still? I'll be making these for bags.
