1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Stitch Diva Goddess Top on: August 20, 2007 08:17:00 AM
I just bought the pattern (at the sale as a matter of fact) and have yet to swatch for it. Though I bought SWTC Bamboo for it. The needles will be different and all.

Does anyone know if there is a way to knit this without adding the crazy armholes?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Norwegian Style Baby Hat on: May 15, 2007 09:07:27 PM
After seeing this hat, linked to on Hello Yarn's blog, I couldn't wait for it! I had to knit it right now! So...I did. Except I did it with some of my own handspun and at a much larger gauge.

For details, check my blog post.

I picked this book up a couple of weeks ago. It's fantastic! I really love it. You should definitely post a review.

Your sweater is gorgeous MarIce! Love the color.

sassykathy: I had to frog some very expensive Egyptian cotton once, and it seems to fair pretty well. The cotton seems to frog faster than wool because it slides more easily. You should be fine if you really want to frog it.

I started a modified version of tragicheroine's pattern.  I had to modify it to fit my gynormous head!  I started out with 72 stitches, but knew it was gonna be too small.  I casted on 90 stitches am now working on the body of the hat with a total of 130 stitches!  I hope to share finished photos by the end of the week.

Everyone's hats look fabulous!

Whew! I have a fairly smallish head, but even I had to CO more sts AND go up a needle size for the ribbing.

What? That's so strange. Did you try emailing the girls at Zephyr?? They'd probably find SOME way to try to help you out.

I really like it but now its 70 degrees over here. So i might not get to wear it until next year.  Undecided   I'll try to get a pic tonight.

That exact thing happened to me! I finished my hat last night. It was like 50 yesterday, so I wake up, throw on my hat, and now it's 70 outside. I wore the hat anyway. lol

I used Cascade 220 (some leftovers from Wicked, plus some stash that I had for a fulled belt) in colors #2448 and #9452. Based loosely on the Wicked pocket pattern and the big blue beret pattern, here's what I did:

CO 80sts on size 5 needles. K1 P1 ribbing for 1.5".
k4, m1 around. (100sts)
Switch to size 8 needles.
Row 1: *k4, p2, k2, p2* rep from * to * til end
Row 2: *k4, p2, crossover, p2, k4, p2, k2, p2* rep from * to * til end
Row 3: *k4, p2, k2, p2* rep from * to * til end
Row 4: *k4, p2, k2, p2, k4, p2, crossover, p2* rep from * to * til end
Row 5: *k4, m1, p2, k2, p2* rep from * to * til end (110sts)

Row 6: *k5, p2, crossover, p2, k5, p2, k2, p2* rep from * to * til end
Row 7: *k5, p2, k2, p2* rep from* to * til end
Row 8: *k5, p2, k2, p2, k5, p2, crossover, p2* rep from * to * til end
Row 9: *k5, p2, k2, p2* rep from * to * til end
Repeat rows 6-9 until hat measures 8.5 inches from CO edge. (approx 10 total reps)

Start decreasing as follows:
Row 1: Row 6: *k5, p2tog, crossover, p2tog, k5, p2tog, k2, p2tog* rep from * to * til end
Row 2: *k2tog, k1, k2tog, p2, k2tog, p2* rep from* to * til end
Now k2tog around until you have 6 or 7 sts.

After fighting my needles for gauge, I finally started this.  I am very much in love with the color - it's a bit more green.

Like the knit column with no cable?  The size I am making has one random last row of knit stitches that don't really fit the cable pattern, so I made it just knit so I know where the back is.

I think I knit the same size. lol I just twisted it like the first one. It doesn't really seem to matter one way or the other because, as you said, it's the back.
