1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: What do you think of my style ? on: August 22, 2006 02:28:52 AM
Hi jpatti,
thanks for the nice words and the bra link. I have a white bra at the moment that's quite similar to the cotton one; I would love to make these bras in very nice colourful patterned fabrics. So maybe I cut it in pieces and try to imitate it....
Bye, lemontree

Hi deregering,
thanks for your kind words; and yes the avatar is me in my grandma's traditional costume from Scheveningen which I inherited from her. I sometimes wear it at special occasions which is quite the thing in many European countries, although I know that people in the Netherlands will laugh if they hear this....
Tot ziens, lemontree

Nice bags ! I love the first one especially with the great flower.
By the way, I recognise you feelings very well. I have the same problem and somehow it does not go away ..... (but I started selling bags only a couple of months ago)
bye, lemontree

Hi dutchclassic: thanks for the nice words and I like your beads !

Hi Maronne: yes I have seen what you mean; very uncomfortable and very nice when you are a young girl of 17 with a ditto waist ..... not my style ....

Anyway, thanks for all the comments !

Hi Maronne,
thanks for your nice comments. Some more words about my style-philosophy; at some point in time I had enough of clothing which is designed for slim women and simply made bigger for us rounder ones. I also was fed up with tight clothing, albeit the fashion at the moment. Moving and sitting down in such clothing is quite difficult when you have some overweight. That's why I wanted to get more freedom in my clothing. I think that's why I started to make wide tops etc. And then I also found out that the more overweight you have,  the wider the clothing is the more flattering one; at least to my eyes .... Maybe I exaggerated a bit .... also to say the model is not a very tall girl (5 foot 4 inch or 1.60 meter) and both tops look better on larger women ....
In short, I am still trying and testing and that's why I like all your comments !

Bye, lemontree

Hi rude-girl72,

such a coincidence ! My grandmother was always in "klederdracht" and I got her costume including the mirror ear things after her dead. I am pretty proud of it and I wear it sometimes at festivities which is quite fashionable in some countries outside the Netherlands (I would never have done so when I lived there). I got a great interest in traditional costumes in general because of her and I think that my own clothing (and especially the bags and jewelry that I always make) are somehow inspired by those great coostumes, their patterns and colours !

Hi ms.cate (great nickname !),
thanks for your lovely words, and I do fancy sometimes that the clothes look like art ......

Bye, lemontree

Thanks for looking and commenting my clothes !

Mrs Rabbit & rude-girl72 : thanks for the links to some great patterns (especially the Australian one has beauties !); it gives me a lot of ideas for new clothes.

off the record for rude-girl72 : maybe you saw my avatar ? that's me in my grandma's Scheveningen costume (I am Dutch too but live already a long time outside the Netherlands)....

Keena : it is not a question of age because I also sew for a girl of 22 years old; it's a question of taste / style. You like it or not. Dragonflywer says it very well; thanks for that ! And we are not all gothic girls after all .......

Bye, lemontree
