11  Plastic bag doggie raincoat in Crochet: Completed Projects by mistress_batty on: June 25, 2007 03:24:30 PM
I've been dying to try my hand at making plastic bag 'yarn' and crocheting with it, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to try it out.
It's been pretty rainy here the last few days and my dog hates going out in the rain, so I decided to make her a little coat for her back so she doesn't get wet. lol She doesn't like that clean feeling.
I made 6 basic granny squares, three of each color combo and then trimmed it in yellow. The piece that goes around her chest is braided grocery bag. I decided not to use plastic for the piece that goes on her belly because I didn't think plastic would feel too well rubbing on her little belly, so I cut up a t-shirt that I had ruined with hair dye & hair bleach (the piece I used for the dog coat didn't have any chemicals on it though).....but yeah, I used cotton t-shirt material for the belly strap.
And without further ado....here is my model, Sara.....

oh, if anyone can't see the images let me know....I can always upload them to a different place.

Here are the two I made this week <3

this is 'carnival'....in person it sparkles...sadly that doesn't show up in the picture

this is 'seedling'...this was soo quick to spin. I don't know if I just got into the spindle groove or what but I was shocked at how quick and smooth it went. The colors are a little off in this picture. The green isn't so pale..it's more of a gorgeous yellow green and the other color is brown. Sadly the picture is showing it as some weird purple like color. I also strung wooden beads onto it. My 'seeds'.

Does anyone have any suggestions about taking pictures of their yarn? Best places, light, etc. for close to the actual color of the yarn....

Everyone's yarn is so gorgeous!

Here's my first fiber Friday contribution...

 It's 89 yards...wool & thread.
And because you can't see all of the colors in the skein photos....here's a shot when I was winding it...

the bottom color is actually violet...the flash is making it look like dark blue

And here's  what I'm spinning right now....it's a mystery batt I purchased...so there's all types of nifty animals and synthetics in there....

15  Re: problems beginning - leader issues in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by mistress_batty on: April 04, 2007 04:55:59 PM
Okay....so I dug out some homespun and on accident the wool and yarn got stuck so I just ran with it. lol But....I just want to make sure what I'm doing is...actually making yarn. lol In some places its twisting on itself and whatnot. I don't know...lol

 Does this look...right?

16  Re: the BIG yarn stash SHOW OFF! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by mistress_batty on: December 19, 2006 08:45:43 PM
Here's mine! I got all excited and organized it by colors.....and now I have a billion more ideas of things to make. lol

I managed to only forget one skein, a big pounder of white.
I buy most of my yarn from Good Will, I love Homespun yarns and often find them at GW for like 50 cents for a brand new skein...it's pure joy. lol But the bulk of this came from a friend of mine...in October she moved and decided to slim down her stash...she started out with 5 huge tubs of yarn.....she's down to 3 now. lol

17  Re: Medallion Motif Scarf in Crochetalongs by mistress_batty on: October 10, 2006 04:04:15 PM
I started mine....I'm just over half finished. I have 4 of the 7 medallions made....

I like the colors a lot, my only issue is that the pink and dirty white are thinner than the other two colors so ....on some rounds you can see through and whatnot. Oh well....i like how it works. lol

 Anyone else start?

18  Aqua Teen Hunger Force Mooninites cross stitch (for Adult Swim swap) in Needlework: Completed Projects by mistress_batty on: February 20, 2006 06:31:17 PM
I finished this cross stitch piece the other day. I'm going to make it into a wall hanging for my partner in the Adult Swim swap.

I have a bigger photo of it but for some reason Craftster won't post it. If you go to my xanga and click on the mooninites picture it will take you to the bigger version.  http://www.xanga.com/mistressbatty
