1  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 110, 111 & 112 Gallery & Discussion in The Swap Gallery by mistress_batty on: April 21, 2015 11:53:24 AM
I wanted to say sorry to everyone for posting so late due to some family things I've been taking care of.
I hope everyone gets their feedback and can make more people super happy with their crafty talents!

Here are the 3 things I've received from people in round 111!

frosty772 -
This talented belle made me a Tardis themed mug rug! My very first mug rug and I've been utterly spoiled with this one! The Tardis is so awesome. It's machine embroidery and I'm super impressed with the detail - you can actually read where it says 'police box' and everything (although my photo didn't capture that well).
Thank you so much frosty772! Now I'm totally inspired to try my hand at making a mug rug. lol I just have to get comfy with my sewing machine again. lol

texscrapper -
Thank you to pieces for the 'unpaper' towels! I was blown away when I saw this pattern peeking out as I opened the package. I looooove damask patterns. And the black and white damask is perfect! I have a few other household items that have the black & white damask so this fit in 100%!
These 6 towels are perfect, lol but I'll be honest, they're so white I don't wanna use them to dry things off and make the white dingy. lol they're so crisp and perfect <3
 Thank you so much!

vixen72 -
Mini pinatas! I was so surprised when you picked this off my list because this is one of those items I didn't know if anyone would wanna make....so I was psyched when you made them. And I was even more psyched when they arrived!
lol I've had to fight one of them away from one of my mom's dogs and my cat (and he still tries to find them and bat them around lol).
They definitely brighten up my work space <3  They look awesome! Thank you soo much!!

2  Re: January, February, March 2015 Birthday Swap! Discussion and Gallery in The Swap Gallery by mistress_batty on: March 11, 2015 03:30:32 PM
First - I wanted to apologize for being quiet and gone for awhile! I had a family emergency and have been dealing with that. And now I'm catching up on work and crafting!
I have a couple more claims I plan on making - I just need to get the current claims from this swap and the ongoing wishlist swap done and sent first before things are too late!

Second - I received my package from SammyLouise40 today!! I think I was squeeing the entire time I was opening it. lol She picked some of my interests off my list and handmade them and I'm so excited! She did an awesome job!

Nerdy Hello Kitty card she made

all the pieces she made!

A planted Sandworm that glows in the dark <333

Then we have a tentacle for a necklace - I'm now on a mission to find a chain to put it on. lol
And then she started my collection of cats inside of things lol She knew I liked the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who....so she put the kitty inside a fez <3

I'm going to have to find a little shelf or something to hang up to display my pieces.
My sandwork is here next to my laptop and I just keep checking it out lol It's going to be one of those things I have to pick up each night so it doesn't fall victim to my cat.  ....and he is enjoying the cool blue patterned box everything came in....lol he's putting teeth marks in it as if he's a hole punch.

Thank you so much, SammyLouise40!!

3  Re: FOC Second Chance Wishlist Swap 2015 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by mistress_batty on: March 11, 2015 01:26:26 PM
I hope mistress batty will receive mine soon as well.

I just got my package yesterday from IdlersDesign!!.....and I was blown away! It was like my birthday opening everything inside hehe.

part 1 - washi tape, handspun yarn, pens, little yarns lol I was'nt sure what to call them, they're really soft, a postcard from Holland...which I'm totally going to hang up lol, and an embroidery hoop - and I'm really digging this hoop because it's not like wooden ones I've found in craft stores around here....where it's kinda flat on the edges and feels unfinished and stuff. This one's more rounded and smooth. lol I have a thing with feeling things. lol

part 2 - a big notebook that's been painted with a galaxy (and I forgot to take pics of the back and inside of the notebook, but it's super pretty with flowers and everything - I loooove notebooks <3 lol )   annnnd, she handcarved some stamps for me! (also I included the wrapping paper that the notebook was in because it's just so pretty. <3

stamps closeup - we've got a bow, a mushroom from Mario Bros., nerdy Hello Kitty, and 11th Doctor/Doctor Who Hello Kitty!
They're so cute! I'm dying to get an ink pad now so I can put them on everything lol

Thank you so much, IdlersDesign for this amazing package!!

I'm bummed that so much came up with work and getting sick and all these snow storms D: that it kept me from getting more done than I wanted. But! I'm excited with what I did finish and I'm lovin' the craft prompts. I wanna participate in the Spring round as well - lol and I'm ready for bright, warm, spring things.

Prompt:  Challenges - December: Around the World - Japan
Team: Multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: poptart scarf - swap in OWS rnd 110
Project Link:
Brief Description: I love cute foods. I use to collect kawaii stationary - I loved San-x characters. I've also been a fan of Twinkie Chan and her cutesy scarves for years. So when I saw rscowtown wanting a poptart scarf, I was excited and channeled my inner Twinkie and put this together for her!
Project Picture:

Prompt:  Challenges - December: Around the World - India
Team: Multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: spring mandala - swap in OWS rnd 110
Project Link:
Brief Description: I've been wanting spring time colors in my place because I'm so sick of winter :x lol so I went hunting for spring saris on Pinterest to see what I'd find. I started falling for this blue, green, and cream/gold color scheme.

A girlie in the OWS wanted a mandala (something I"ve been obsessed with lately - and also Indian inspired) - so I had to accept the wish and make it for her!
She wanted spring feelings for her place as well, so things just came all together!
Project Picture:

Prompt:  Challenges  - January: Baby, It's Cold Outside - Brrr
Team: Multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: jewel-tone fingerless bow gloves
Project Link:
Brief Description: OWS rnd 111 item - made fingerless gloves for a lady so when she walks her dog, her hands are a little warmer!
Project Picture:

Prompt:  RED ALERT! - New Year's Resolution
Team: Multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: skull square
Project Link:
Brief Description: I hadn't tried intarsia knitting in years. I did it once years ago and it was not a pretty sight. lol I'm not confident with knitty to begin with, I"m much confident with crocheting. I agreed to an exchange with a girl on Reddit...she wanted a mug cozy with a skull on it. After lots of searching for the 'perfect' skull....I fell in love with this repeating pattern. I was surprised with how much easier it was this time and I really like how it turned out. I was surprised how it was kinda tight - so I've gotta ease up on the tension.
So this was my first try at intarsia - so I kept this square for myself. <3 lol I'm proud of what I taught myself.
Project Picture:

Prompt:  RED ALERT! - Love is in the Air
Team: Multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: rose ring
Project Link:
Brief Description: I've never been given roses or jewelry for Valentine's (a book of stamps, mixed CDs, and stuffed animals, yes lol) -  so, this year I gave myself both in the form of this ring.

5  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 110 & 111 Gallery & Discussion in The Swap Gallery by mistress_batty on: February 22, 2015 06:52:36 AM
Finally the weekend! lol
I received these awesome packages in the mail this week! <3

From rscowtown, she made me some crocheted hoop picture frames in my pink & gray color combo that I like.
Thank you so much! hehe now I've gotta craft my butt off to make things to go in them. lol not that I'm complaining about crafting hehe I've gotta put out the aida and floss and get to cross stitchin'! That and I'm going to print off some pics of my late pupper and hang her up on my desk <3

From Alliekat914, she sent me a package of supplies - which I was super grateful for seeing I'm trying to rebuild my supply collection. (i've moved a few times over the last few years and my belongings keep having to be sacrificed :/ ) sooo....yay for the ability to craft more! lol
I've never used washi tape before and have just oogled in from afar and pinned projects for it. And Doctor Who fabric was something I lusted after for awhile but could never splurge on.....so seeing both of those things and more hoops in my package was a total thrill!  lol I'm going to have to do a few practice sewing jobs before I do anything with that fabric. lol I haven't really used a sewing machine since I was in college making tote bags....so I gotta get back in the habit. lol

My mom watched me open these and her response was 'more hoops? do you need more hoops?'. lol Yes. Yes I do. (when I can find them at a thrift shop for 50 cents, I usually grab them lol).

lol she gives me the same response about yarn. I will never have enough yarn, Miss. Ever. lol

Thank you both so much!!! This was an awesome swap to get my swappin' groove back. lol

6  possible joining / how is this done - question in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by mistress_batty on: May 19, 2011 03:31:10 PM
So I found a granny square that I thought was cute and have decided to make some of....then I found someone had made a pillow out of them. The part that I really liked were these lines that they had added to it..they kind of outline every square.
The more I look at the picture, the more it doesn't look like they were used for joining the pieces together but I could be wrong.
I'm wondering if anyone has a link to or can explain how this is done. I'll post a picture of what I'm asking about...

It's that pink line between all of the squares.....

 Thanks in advance!

So so sorry for posting these late! Sad I'm really glad that you and your husband loved the zombie cat, Rangerbeth! I had a blast making it. It was interesting coming up with ideas and then having to figure out how to make them work. I dug the challenge Smiley And who doesn't love an adorable zombie Smiley

Here is what the lovely Rangerbeth made for me. One of my suggestions was a hybrid animal. So she made me a catbat! (I lovelovelove bats Wink )  Oh also, I love maryjanes, which I don't think I said or showed anywhere....so those were a great bonus hehe

I'm trying to put something together where I can set her so everyone can see <3

Okay, I am so so sorry for posting these photos late and thank you to my partners who did  post their work. I'm also glad that you both liked what I made for you!

So the "D" is from NH822. She uncovered my love for typewriters and thought this looked like a great typewriter font. I thought it was a great first piece to the wall, a "D" for me Smiley <3

The octopus was made by PearliePie. And I'm bummed that the colors in the thread I can't seem to capture with my camera. It's really pretty though. It's not variegated by any means...but there's different colors in it. Lol it's hard to describe but it's beautiful.
Also, it took one of my roommates to point out that it actually spells out 'octopus' in the arms. <3

Now I just have to keep the cat away from them. He saw me take down a painting and hang these two in it's place, so now he feels the need to stand up real high, balance a paw on the monitor, and then try and bat them around. :3 lol

I had so much fun <3 I can't wait for round 4 to begin

9  Re: Tour de Fleece 2007 in Spinning: Completed Projects by mistress_batty on: July 11, 2007 03:34:54 PM

"Casino Carpeting"
I dyed this wool with Wilton's Cake Dye...I used black & pink and they separated into soo many colors. I really like it. I plyed it with thread and added dice beads....although you can only see a couple of them in this picture..

"stitched up"
working name. not a fan of it though. although not sure what else to call it.
It's really thing grey yarn with some pale red that's just a little thicker...and then some big red chunks....
I think this was the smallest I've ever spun....

I was wondering....if I was going to suggest a needle size / hook size for this yarn....what would I base it on? The majority of the yarn is really thin....but in 5 different spots it's really thick. So would I want a bigger needle because of the big chunks....or what?

That's what I got done  today. 4 oz. Tuesday I dyed the wool....and had been dying to dig into it. lol So I got a very rude awakening from my dog at 4:30am today and  couldn't fall back asleep....so I jumped right into spinning. Tomorrow I'm going to ply this puppy.
I have 10 other yarns I'd like it get done through the tour...but who knows. I have to move some time this month so that puts a crunch on things....
  I can't wait to see everyone's stuff.
