Fizzle - I am so glad you like your packgage.  I had a fabulous time working on it.
*****
Gourd Stocking.  Well there are all sorts of shapes and sizes of gourds.  The stocking is mostly made from a snake gourd.

Here is a link to a picture of snake gourds
http://gcrec.ifas.ufl.edu/Gourd%20webpage/italian_snake.htm

The one I used was a bit straighter than those in the picture. The picture also shows just picked ones - I used a dried gourd.

Anyway the I cut a foot and stocking piece.  I used a piece of another gourd for the heal of the foot.  Spent some time getting them to fit together.  Used paper clay at all the connection points.  Painted and decorated.

SewingLori  - and anyone else wanting to talk more about gourd can PM me.  I warn you - gourds are addictive....

Oh yeah - I just checked and the postal service website says my package to Fizzle7033 was received yesterday.  Now I just have to wait for Fizzle to get home and open it.

I sent - so Fizzle7033 should get in 2-3 days.  This part is almost as exciting as waiting for my stocking was.

I wore my wonderfull scarf today and have been getting all sorts of compliments.  One co-worker thought it looks alive. I love it.

There is no way I can even think about waiting!!!!

No need to worry - I expect you to open/ use everything before christmas.  It is all boxed up, addressed and ready to go.  My plan is to go to the post office at lunch time.  (I'm taking a late lunch so hopefull it won't be as crowded).

I can't wait to see how you like everthing.

There is no way I can wait until Christas morning to open my stocking!

Wait - nobody told me to wait- Waiting did not even cross my mind when I got the packege.  It was all opened and looked at as soon as I got it upstairs.

Well it is 10:15 pm and past my bed time but Miche's stocking is all packed up and ready to take to the post office tomorrow.  Yeah!!!  Now I just have to wait on pins and needles until she gets it to see if she likes it.  I hope so.

.... She sent pretty much everything except a tree....

Well My Swap Partner sent me a tree - with ornaments too.  I was so excited when I opened the box.

And stuffed in my beautiful crochet stocking was
A lovely warm scarf - my mother was very impressed with is twisty nature

two crochet dish cloths

a pair of pie earings & a pair of cake earings (I would not let her send me food as I don't eat sweets - so Fizzel sent sweet earings - what more could a girl want?)

A tiara of course!

a nail care kit

and a fabulous necklace

Here are the pictures:

Although it turned out to be most impractical for stuffing presents into...

I bet the stocking I made is even more impractical for stuffing - or at least as impractical as yours. But I hope my partner will like it - it is kind of unique

As a gourd artist myself I am really impressed.  I love the beaded rim.  Do you have much of a gourding community where you live?  Have you done other gourds?

Would we have to use an actual Dremmel or could we use other brands of rotary tools?
