11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 12 Gallery on: February 07, 2010 04:04:44 PM
I got yarn balls. I just moved, and this was the first package I received at my new house.  Grin

The balls themselves- I got two. In the package was some airplane flannel (houray!), a small notebook, and mad libs. My little ones think mad libs are hysterical because that's how they normally tell stories!
I decided to unwind them. I could not wait to knit them out, I'm still waiting to find my blender!!!
One of the first things I noticed was a small box of ginger candy. For a pregnant lady, ginger is a cure for heartburn. This was well timed, I had heartburn! I wrenched that box out quick! and enjoyed it! MEshelltakeone, thank you!

The gray ball is caron country, with a baby hat pattern! The dark blue is malabrigo. NOM NOM NOM.
The gray ball was filled with kid stuff! Plastic snakes, crochet flowers (which I think may be attached to some barrettes!), stickers, photo frame magnet, tamogotchi charms, which I looked at and immediately thought they would make great stitch markers!, and a really nifty bag of play money. Which will get lots of use, the kids LOVE playing with money now!
The blue yarn had stuff for mom!  A dragonfly pendant, stitch markers, ribbon, a headband , a cat toy, a pot holder, and extra yarn with a pattern. A pattern I must crochet. Because I know the designer. As in we were in a Mom's SNB together.
Wow, this was so much fun, thanks for a great package!

He looks amazing.
Carrying a Jesus doll to church meetings would be all kinds of funny.
I can't wait to see how this whole thing turns out!!

I made one of those Totoro's for my son. Oh they are great toys, and seriously, not so hard. I'm kind of a ghetto crocheter and I managed to make one!!
I can't wait for my ball!
16  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday 01/29/10 on: January 29, 2010 12:09:22 PM
You really can do anything you want with the fabric shreds.  Grin My favorite thing to do is to thread them on thread and ply them. I find I can get much more control and get cute little bow ties out of it.

Jane, it is really smooshy. I haven't stuck my face in it but I kept fondling it!! And did you dye your hair pink? It looks awesome! My husband keeps trying to convince me to do that in blue or purple. I've got a purple front section for now...
sarahj2001, get a toothbrush and kind of flick it across the bobbin. It should find that end and grab it! Good luck, it stinks when that happens!

The ONLY think I've worked on for the past month or so is my contribution for the Pluckyfluff Handspun Revolution exhibit. Ok I should say the only fibery thing I've worked on, we've been scrambling like mad to find a new place to live after someone practically walked up and bought our house! Then comes the packing, and we are trying hard to get moved in THIS WEEK! Did I mention I'm 31 weeks pregnant too?
This is actually the second incarnation of this fiber. I made a vegan version of this for the make yarn out of this swap. This is my wool version. In fact I have enough to make myself another skein to keep!

It's kind of funny to see the stuff you worked on with another person. My little 2 and 4 year olds loved the staches too- I had to make them some. And for the record, my little girl wanted a pink mustache.
And MEshelltakeone, you look great in the black one.  Grin
20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Corset top and hoody on: January 27, 2010 06:39:04 PM
FWIW, commercial corset patterns have 'ease' built into the pattern, like all clothes do. Corsets don't need (and shouldn't have) ease. So yah, make em smaller.
Great job, I love that color!
