31  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Hourglass spinner? on: July 10, 2006 11:51:50 PM
I have run across something called an Hourglass hand spinner, but I can't for the life of me figure out how it works or find any instructions online.  Does anybody have knowledge of this item or know where I can read about it?
32  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Captain Jack Amigurumi on: July 02, 2006 12:13:54 PM
This doll has been banging around my head for a few months and I finaly got to make him this week

Captain Jack is off on another adventure! This 12" doll is ready to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer his weasely black guts out. So if you have the courage and fortitude to follow orders and stay true in the face of danger and almost certain death then you have just one question to ask yourself. Can you sail under the command of a pirate, or can you not?
33  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Niddy Noddy Spindle? on: June 26, 2006 07:30:19 PM
Hey Guys!

I have been lurking here and I thought I should introduce myself.  I am Amy.  I am looking into beginning to spin.  I love looking at all the handspun and it calls to me.  [Glazed Eyes] I must learn how to do that[/glazed eyes].  So to feed my urge to spin, I have been doing research on how to start and trying to decide between drop spindle or going directly to a wheel.  I ran across a cool tool that they have at woolery.com.  It is called a Niddy Noddy spindle.  It looks like a minature Niddy Noddy (because it is only 1 oz) but it has a drop spindle hook on the top!  I was thinking it would be easier to controll a spin with this tool instead of a regular spindle, but I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this tool?

35  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Washing skeins on: June 15, 2006 06:51:04 PM
I just bought a bunch of Yard sale acrylic.  It smells like old dog  Tongue  I need to wash it, but do I throw the whole skein in or take the time to unwind it and put it in a Lingerie Bag?
