pinspiration #6:  http://www.pinterest.com/pin/285134220132771237/

i loved the idea of an empowerment shrine, I've toyed with the idea of shrines in my head for many years but had never actually done one. so i hunted down the kit for this and decided to still do an empowerment shrine but to not use what came with it. so here it is...

in the center of the flower on top is a small working compass, the fortune cookie sayings are: you should let go of negative things today; change has both physical and psychological attributes; you can't choose how you will die but you can choose how you will live.  i always save the little fortunes and i thought that these were appropriate ones for the shrine.

i've been taking my time and slowly reading through all the pages that i had missed, so much information and inspiration! its a tad overwhelming at times...so i figured i would go ahead and post my first pages in this years book, i did them back on jan. first. i picked a word for the year and did a page inspired by that for the front of my book.

pinspiration #5:  http://www.pinterest.com/pin/285134220132570037/

i love christy tomlinsons art over at the scarlet lime. and I've had a bunch of canvas' laying around for quite a few years so i decided to do one of her tutorials. i'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
mine came out a little differently obviously, the only part I'm not totally happy with is the way the stamp turned out, but it was a learning experience, now i know that when stamping on a canvas i need to apply pressure to the back as well. i was going to try and cover it up with a rub-on but decided to leave it.

HSG--you did a fantastic job, they look way to intimidating for me to try!

here is my inspiration #4: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/285134220131946936/

this pattern came from ravelry, but as i said in the pin the written instructions didn't make much since to me. but there is a chart and that was easier to follow. at first the instructions seem fine but i think it was on the fourth row that things went down hill, the instructions just didn't seem to match up with what i was holding in my hand.

so here is mine, i intend to make more of these eventually.

thank you to everyone for the kind words, i do appreciate it!

okay so pinspiration #3 i had had on my mind for awhile before i jumped in, i then got the main part done and couldn't decide on how to finish it, i tried lots of different options but finally settled on less is more, i know there is still a lot on there but my first arrangement had a lot more going on in the corners.

so here is the original pin:  http://www.pinterest.com/pin/285134220132570005/

and here is my version:

the little brads have a letter on them and i placed one where each of my kids was born and where my husband and i were born with our corresponding initial. the little paper in the bottom right says Est. and the year we were married.
my frame is a little catywampus due to it being warped just a tad. i picked it up at an estate sale for $1, not sure how or if i can fix it, if anyone has any ideas on that please feel free to let me know.

pinspiration #2:  http://www.pinterest.com/pin/285134220132569969/

I loved the idea of this but it was a little to plain for me, i have seen several different versions of this on pintrest so i just took them all into consideration and went with what i liked and what i had on hand. i really like the way the paint chips turned out as menu cards.
here is my version:

9  Re: 50 projects in 2011 in Craftalongs by solarray on: January 10, 2011 09:27:45 AM
alright i finished project #2, which of course was not one of the things on my original to-do list. but anyway here it is. it's my first attempt at amigurumi, it turned out alright i think except for the piecing it together. i've made crochet stuffed animals before, but they weren't this small and didn't require as much sewing pieces together. my oldest dd picked out the colors and sewed the eyes and nose on. its for her out of her book, she hasn't quite got the hang of crochet yet so i told her i'd make the pieces.  and another shot, if you hadn't figured it out it is a squirrel.

10  two hats in Crochet: Completed Projects by solarray on: April 15, 2008 12:13:08 PM
so, my daughter wanted a new hat, she picked out the style she wanted and the colors. she originally wanted the light pink with neon orange but i talked her down to the green. i didn't think the pink would show up very well with the orange. so here is hat #1:the book called it an incan earflap hat. here is an action shot its a little big on her but she loves it.

hat #2 is just a simple elf hat. i had made some for my daughters years ago and my son decided that he had to have one too.

thanks for looking
