23  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / drunk buddha, kewpie doll (photo obese as in needing the aid of a crane to move) on: July 26, 2006 12:37:51 AM
alright, i recently fell in love with making my own journals, finally if i insisted on needing five thousand journals, each with only two pages filled, i could do it cheaply, not to mention that i can make journals that fit my own specific wishes.-
this is the first book i made with coptic stitch-

i used random stuff around the house and a picture of the buddha i found by the side of the road (only he wasn't painted then)

heres the journal i actually use,  i made it a while ago, but I just added the fabric and kewpie doll today-

 and the binding

(i really need to fix the pink stuff)

this is the latest one i made

i think hummels are weird so i put one one the cover
 unfolded-

and finally i made this for my mum (it's her birthday)

yeah- sorry about all the pictures, it's been a while since i've been able to get pictures of anything-

any comments/ advice very welcome

thanks for looking!  Smiley
24  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......... please help! (if possible) on: July 24, 2006 11:04:58 PM
alright, so this is going to sound like a really bad riddle-
I am looking for some ceramic figurines, or pictures of them but i can't seem to remember the name- they are usually of children- they are famous - the name starts with an H- and i belive it sound german-ish--- they were the dolls in "about achmidt" that his wife used to collect- OMG i'm so sorry- i realize this makes almost no sense, but if anyone can tell me the name they are amazing (and incredibly good at figuring things out with no information) bleh
thanks in advance for any help

and a better picture of the fabric-

(only nothing too bad 'cause as we speak i'm wearing the skirt in public  Smiley )

(edited to fix strange use of a comma)
26  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / FRIDA!! in her own words on: July 03, 2006 06:21:43 PM
this was an art project from last year- we had to make some kind of picture using words-
this was at the height of my obsession with Frida Kahlo (who will always be one of my heroes)-
the words are all from her diary-

and here's some close-ups- the words aren't especially legible, but they're there-

all the kids in my class were very disturbed by her mustache  Grin
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / ATTACK of the PLAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: July 02, 2006 10:08:26 PM
so using Lamby's tutorial I made this-

(awful picture- but currently the only one I have)
I'm semi happy with it- but it really seems way too............. plaid
I love plaid, but I really feel like i need to add something to the dress to break up the plaidness
it may be just me but i feel like it would go well with a cowboy hat and boots, but unfortunately that is definitely NOT my style
other than that its uber comfortable and cool-- i'm more than happy to wear it at home-

heres a picture of it with a cardigan- i like it with the cardigan- but thats really not practical in the middle of summer-

(yup- myspace angles at work)

any suggestions on changes are very very welcome

thanks for looking Grin
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my father is an Oompa Loompa on: June 27, 2006 05:14:02 AM
I didn't want to do laundry last night, so i made this skirt out of fabric i had laying about, and as soon as i finished it, i realized i had finally found an outfit to wear with the bright orange tights i had bought for 50 cents  Grin
here it is-

a bit blurry but it gets the idea across- the tights are actually a little brighter, but the lighting was terrible

and heres a clearer picture-

(the camera took the picture a little early)

the skirt is a fairly simple 4 panel skirt- i find the 4 panels are the most flattering for my ummm... wide hips

thanks for looking, and any comments etc are welcome

oh- and i just realized the shirt is a recon- wrong thread i know, but i don't feel like posting it separately
29  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / finished! my tiara- now with a sad attempt at a tutorial on: June 22, 2006 08:56:01 PM
i had to clean my room this weekend, so i decided to make a tiara for the occasion- and i am now in love with felting, so i decided to knit and felt myself a tiara- i made up the pattern for it as i went along-

i'm only half way through embroidering it, and eventually i'm going to put some red beads on it-

here i am wearing it (with my greasy hair)

i think i'll add another picture of it once i'm finished

yup thats it- i think i'm going to make more with a slightly different pattern (my little cousin already wants one)-
ideas of changes, or comments are definitely welcome
30  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my amazing fedora on: June 20, 2006 02:41:28 PM
so far my only accomplishment this summer has been my fedora-
i got the pattern from Folk Hats by Vicki Square- i hand felted it (it took about 2 hours) because i was too much of a wimp to try to machine felt it-

unfortunately the brim doesn't stay up exceptionally well- does any one know how to deal with this?

here it is with a ribbon around the brim- i think i will replace it with something more fun-

over all i'm happy with it- but i don't think i'll wear it much- i kinda just wanted to be able to say that i made my own fedora Grin
