at my wonderful local thriftstore i found 2 pillowcases and they told me to make a skirt out of them, so i did

i finally made mine- the fabric i choose was slightly too thick for the dress, but it still works (i think)-

it's uber-comfy, and it'll be really good for the fall when i can wear a wool cardigan without dying

this was an art project from last year- we had to make some kind of picture using words-
this was at the height of my obsession with Frida Kahlo (who will always be one of my heroes)-
the words are all from her diary-

all the kids in my class were very disturbed by her mustache  

so using Lamby's tutorial I made this-

I'm semi happy with it- but it really seems way too............. plaid
I love plaid, but I really feel like i need to add something to the dress to break up the plaidness
it may be just me but i feel like it would go well with a cowboy hat and boots, but unfortunately that is definitely NOT my style
other than that its uber comfortable and cool-- i'm more than happy to wear it at home-

heres a picture of it with a cardigan- i like it with the cardigan- but thats really not practical in the middle of summer-

I didn't want to do laundry last night, so i made this skirt out of fabric i had laying about, and as soon as i finished it, i realized i had finally found an outfit to wear with the bright orange tights i had bought for 50 cents 
here it is-


a bit blurry but it gets the idea across- the tights are actually a little brighter, but the lighting was terrible

and heres a clearer picture-

the skirt is a fairly simple 4 panel skirt- i find the 4 panels are the most flattering for my ummm... wide hips

oh- and i just realized the shirt is a recon- wrong thread i know, but i don't feel like posting it separately

i had to clean my room this weekend, so i decided to make a tiara for the occasion- and i am now in love with felting, so i decided to knit and felt myself a tiara- i made up the pattern for it as i went along-
   


i'm only half way through embroidering it, and eventually i'm going to put some red beads on it-

here i am wearing it (with my greasy hair)





i think i'll add another picture of it once i'm finished

yup thats it- i think i'm going to make more with a slightly different pattern (my little cousin already wants one)-
ideas of changes, or comments are definitely welcome

so far my only accomplishment this summer has been my fedora-
i got the pattern from Folk Hats by Vicki Square- i hand felted it (it took about 2 hours) because i was too much of a wimp to try to machine felt it-


unfortunately the brim doesn't stay up exceptionally well- does any one know how to deal with this?



here it is with a ribbon around the brim- i think i will replace it with something more fun-

over all i'm happy with it- but i don't think i'll wear it much- i kinda just wanted to be able to say that i made my own fedora

here are two that i don't like very much- but whatever- i didn't treat the paper (or in the second case, cardboard) well so it kinda made thngs more difficult



i did this one last year, its a  mixture between a painting of bernadine dohrn, a victim of the french revolution, and an illumination of Hildegarde of Bingen



so thats all, any comments or whatever are uber welcome- and i've decided to spend the summer getting better at painting, so any ideas for improvement are definitely good-
