11  skirt made out of every strange/ ugly fabric imaginable in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by acidalbatross on: September 11, 2006 09:41:09 PM
I made this skirt about 2 or 3 years ago on the last day of my junior year, i made it out of scraps i had from previous skirts and projects and a bunch of cotton prints my step mother was getting rid of, it took me a solid day, i started when i got home from school and finished it late that night
yup, here it is-

because it's so long, and i'm so short, i have repeatedly stepped on and tripped over the hem of this skirt, so i am considering shortening it to mid-calf length, i'm not sure though, any thoughts on this would be appreciated

thanks for looking, and feel free to share any opinions on my skirt

12  my bed/craft room- orange, crosseyed ceramic dogs and flamingos - photo obese in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by acidalbatross on: September 01, 2006 10:33:07 PM
i just moved back into my apartment for the school year, and i'm very excited with how my room turned out, so i decided to inflict a crapload on you...

it's a smallish room, but past experience has taught me that i always need to set aside a separate space for sewing or painting or whatever..  (otherwise i end up losing my oil paints in my bed and waking up with bright red feet... and red sheets..) so i divided my room into 2 sections the craft/art/book section-

the flamingos used to have legs, but i let people use them as marshmallow sticks and they got lost, but i think i like them better like this anyway-

this is my wonderful chair- it was originally in the psych. ward of a hospital-

i love all the layers of paint on it -

and the sleeping/ clothes makeup etc. section-

the table on the left has some clothes and makeup and hair stuff in it (and it has my shrine)
and i have a closet at the foot of the bed-
here's a close-up of the top-

the skeleton ashtray is something 2 of my fantastic housemates got me in prague

here's a picture of the bed- mostly just to prove that it is (very) occasionally made-

this is the curtain closed-

i think the curtain used to be a tablecloth, i got it for 3 dollars at a thrift-store, after i got home i found a price-tag on it from pier 1 imports for 95$- i love thriftstores...

yup thats it, thank you for looking, i'm sorry about all the pictures,  comments or ideas are always welcome

  beth

edited to fix the pictures

13  welcome to the dollhouse (photo obese) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by acidalbatross on: August 26, 2006 03:23:07 PM
this week i visited my brother in Burlington, Vermont and we went to the shelburne museum- here are a couple a photos i got of the doll exhibit- it was a little challenging because flash wasn't allowed but some of the dolls were so strange that i wanted to share them- i'm not a serious photographer or anything, but i do get camera happy (it's genetic) - anyway here they are-

this is a swimming doll-

these are the wax dolls- i found them very creepy

and here is my favorite- the clown

so that is all for now- i had another one but photobucket is giving me issues

any comment and criticisms are very welcome- and any advice about my photo taking is helpful

oh, and if anyone lives in around burlington, you should visit the the shelburne museum, it was fantastic

oh i forgot one-

14  alright- i need to hide my glitter from myself - 3 pictures in Shoes: Completed Projects by acidalbatross on: August 18, 2006 10:22:01 PM
so, i saw the red glitter shoes on here- and i needed to cover up a pair of converse (they were a light color and got very stained)- so this happened-

and then this-

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=113510

(i paid 5 dollars for these)

and finally these-

(i got them for 2 dollars at old navy)

i think i put too much glue on the converse, because they aren't as shiny as i would like- and i need to clean them up a bit- but over all i'm satisfied with my various glittered shoes
(and yes-  i'm obsessed with paying almost nothing for shoes)

any comments/suggestions welcome

oh-? any ideas of what kind of laces would look good with the converse? - i'm not crazy about the black laces

(edited becuase i goofed, and then i lied a little and goofed again- but it's all fine now- i promise)

15  pretty pretty blue apron dress (too many pictures) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by acidalbatross on: August 18, 2006 10:07:05 PM
there are only a few weeks until i will head back to college- so i'm trying to use my mother's serger as much as possible before i'm downgraded to a sewing machine (i don't mean to whine- i know i'm horribly spoiled  Tongue )- anyway- i found this fabric for a dollar a yard and after browsing crafster for a bit i was inspired by an apron shirt/ dress thing (once i find the post agian i'll post the link here) -  i made this--

front-

side-

back-

and my curl-up-and-watch-an-Edward-norton-interview-shot-

any comments/ suggestions for improvement completely appreciated

17  i'm a genie in a teapot in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by acidalbatross on: August 01, 2006 11:34:46 PM
this is a hoodie i made out of 2 old t-shirts and some random fabric,
i thought it was a bit plain, so i painted a genie coming out af a teapot on the front,
the hoodie is kind of horrible, the hood part really has issues, as you can probably tell it's off-center (any suggestions for fixing it or hiding this are very welcome)
yup, anyway- here it is

and a clearer picture of the painting-\

ultimately this may just be a dry run for a better, improved hoodie

20  drunk buddha, kewpie doll (photo obese as in needing the aid of a crane to move) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by acidalbatross on: July 26, 2006 12:37:51 AM
alright, i recently fell in love with making my own journals, finally if i insisted on needing five thousand journals, each with only two pages filled, i could do it cheaply, not to mention that i can make journals that fit my own specific wishes.-
this is the first book i made with coptic stitch-

i used random stuff around the house and a picture of the buddha i found by the side of the road (only he wasn't painted then)

heres the journal i actually use,  i made it a while ago, but I just added the fabric and kewpie doll today-

 and the binding

(i really need to fix the pink stuff)

this is the latest one i made

i think hummels are weird so i put one one the cover
 unfolded-

and finally i made this for my mum (it's her birthday)

yeah- sorry about all the pictures, it's been a while since i've been able to get pictures of anything-

any comments/ advice very welcome

thanks for looking!  Smiley
