1  From vest to.....? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by myoosikal on: April 06, 2006 03:37:15 PM
My husband has this vest he got from a camp he used to work at. It's probably 6 or 7 years old and we have been together 6 years and i have NEVER seen him wear it. I am always trying to get him to clean out his closet and get rid of clothes he never wears. He will not get rid of this because it's sentimental, which I totally understand, but I wish it was something he was getting some use out of. I asked him if he would mind if I reconstructed it into something he would use, and he said it would depend on what it was.

Here are some pics (excuse the cat hair):

This is a close-up of the embroidery (the basic part he wants to keep):

Any ideas of what this can be made into? The material is sort of fleece, but i'm not sure exactly what it is. I am not extremely experienced in sewing or anything, but any ideas are appreciated. Thanks! Smiley

2  Re: Come one come all post your new tattoo IDEAS! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by myoosikal on: March 21, 2006 10:14:05 AM
my next tat, i have decided, will be a tribute to my band director who died in a car accident in 2000. i wasn't quite sure what i wanted to do, but a friend of mine was talking of one she was going to do (for the same person) and it sparked an idea for me. it has to do with something he said the day he died, for apparently no reason at the time, but it meant a lot to us later. at the end of band rehearsal that day, he said to us "see you on the other side of the rainbow" as we left. it was kind of weird at the time, but he was a weird guy sometimes, and none of us thought to much of it. that night he was killed in a bad car accident that was just that, an accident. there was talk after that about him commiting suicide because of what he said, and i suppose it could be true, but none of us think that. so anyway... i want a treble clef with a rainbow coming out of it. under it will be the words "see you on the other side" and under that maybe, or somewhere sort of hidden will be "DK 2000"

here is something i worked up in photoshop (b/c i can't draw):

i used a rainbow pic and kind of pieced it together in there, so it doesn't look great, but i'd get an artist who could make it like i want. i just wanted to do this to get a general idea. the rainbow would extend out and then i am not quite sure. it might end up a normal rainbow and maybe end on a fluffy cloud, or it might twist and flow like a ribbon. any other ideas for it? or for where the writing would look best? if i get it with the rainbow landing on a cloud, i would most likely put the initials inside the cloud.

Also, i think this is really weird, and i was wondering what you guys think. i have this irrational fear of dying and not being identified right away. this has made me want to get my name and possibly ss# or something on the bottom of my foot. i know it's really weird, but has anyone else ever heard of anything similar? i mean, it would just be small and plain, and at least it would be in a place where nobody would really see it. seems creepy to think about it, but it's been an obsession for a long time.

i also want some star trek tattoos. i really, really want to get trill spots, but it's really bold and "out there" and i know i am not ready for it yet. i worry too much about what other people think. i will link a pic instead of posting it, because it's really big to show the detail of the spots.

i am also not sure how it will look because i have a lot of freckles, especially on my face, so it might just end up looking like weird freckles. for now i would just get the spots to go down onto my neck, but if i get these i might eventually get them all the way down. any other trekkies out there? what do you think? also, any other ideas for trek tats? i don't really want to get just a boring ol' com badge...

3  Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by myoosikal on: March 21, 2006 01:45:31 AM
wow, this thread is unbelievable!! there are so many amazing tattoos, i am just in awe!

anyway, i got my first and only (for now) tattoo with my mom 2 years ago as a going-away event for me b/c i moved from FL to PA and we had always wanted to get tattoos together and just had never done it. i originally wanted a fairy, possibly a tinkerbell, but i couldn't ever find anything that was "just perfect". while looking at random sites and fantasy pictures, i found a picture of a baby unicorn and it hit me. THIS IS IT! it was perfect for me. so i got the unicorn in pink with purple hair! Smiley i love it so much, but i wish it was in a better place. i never get to see it or anything. at the time, i just wanted it to be able to be covered easily, and i had heard it didn't hurt much there, which i was also concerned about. it came out looking rather like a My Little Pony, and though that wasn't the intention, i don't mind it at all. but that is what everyone says when they see it:

sorry it's a big pic. i didn't notice it until i was going to post it, and now i am too lazy to change it.

now i am just dying to get another one! i know i want a song around my ankle, the actual notes of a song (i am a band geek), but i am not sure what song i want yet. it will have to be a really important song to me. i am in love with this idea, but i don't have a song that i am that passionate about yet. it will come someday.

i might also post this bottom part in the other thread for tattoo ideas, but i dunno if it's allowed to post it twice. i haven't been on craftster long.  hmm...

4  Etching question in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by myoosikal on: March 18, 2006 09:20:29 PM
I want to make dishes similar to these at Target:

My question is if I use the Armor Etch on them, will the frosted part come out white or will it just be a rougher surface/frosted sort of but still black? Huh

Thanks for any help, and I will make a post with pictures when I make them.  Smiley

5  Re: ATC-along, everyone! **MARCH's theme is "TAKE OFF". Post on Fridays!!!" in Craftalongs by myoosikal on: March 18, 2006 05:05:22 PM
hi everyone! it's a day of firsts for me. this is my first time posting anything at craftster and my first ATC! Smiley

i'm late in joining and late in posting.  Undecided  i was going to post yesterday, but my camera batteries were dead. anyway, i wanted to join this thing but i found this post on wednesday and couldn't start until thursday, so i only made one card this week.

so when i thought of "take off" i first thought of a plane taking off. so here's my first card:

it's on a playing card. i painted it with light blue acrylic paint and then painted the fluffy white clouds on. then i put glitter on the clouds before the paint dried. the plane is a shrinky dink i made and then i just drew the dashed line with a sharpie marker.

this is a really fun craft and i am enjoying it a lot. i have enjoyed looking at all the other cards on here too, though i didn't look at any of these until after i made mine. i just wanted a fresh start with no ideas from anything else in my mind. but now when i went back to look at them all, they're all beautiful!
see ya next week!  Smiley
