21  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Calcifer on: January 12, 2007 07:51:49 AM
OOOOOOOOOO!

This is a-dor-able!

For as much as I like amigurumi, it's funny that I haven't made something for myself. This may be what it takes to get me moving.

I hope your daughter's friend was properly pleased.

Thanks, everyone, for the posts. I guess sometimes we all just need an 'attagirl  Grin

Now, back to painting....

How sad is this? Replying to my own post!  Shocked

I guess this painting was either less than impressive or just got lost in the Craftster shuffle. I'll, optimistically, go with lost in the shuffle.

Thoughts are welcome....

Thanks!

Yes, rowdygirl, please share a bit more on how to do this.

I have the sympathy cards from when my dad died in a box - this would be a nice way to keep them.

I wonder what it is about those cards?  Sad

Just finished this up.

I asked for, well I bought it myself and wrapped it too, gouache paints for Christmas since they are one of the few types of paints I've not used yet.

This was my first try with them. It has some issues, but overall it turned out OK. It is only 5 inches by 7 inches since it was just a sample.

The figure is from a life drawing reference book - the rest is imaginary  Smiley

What do you think?

Amateur my foot!

You did a great job with the pattern and the colors.

That is one of the nicest, fullest pom poms I've seen! I hate making those things so mine are always pathetic.

Nice Hat!
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Seriously. Is this wearable? on: January 09, 2007 12:18:13 PM
Some of the Poof-factor could be from the fabric. It looks to be a fairly crisp fabric, like cotton broadcloth or some such, that will just stand at attention whenever it is gathered.

Trying that top in a more slinky and drapey fabric could be all the difference in the world.

BUT, since this is the top you've got, I agree with the suggestions to add a sash or some other way of reining in the midsection and to shorten or gather those sleeves.

Good Luck!

Hey BabyMarie,

Cuuuute hats! I especially like the yellow one with the scarf.

You make a pretty cute model for them - maybe that will help them sell. But, what do I know? I live in Central Florida. We don't even wear hats here  Grin

Your hats make me wish we did though!

Everything about this sweater screams "Wonderful." I can see why you are so proud.

It is a fine and professional job of knitting and, almost more importantly, finishing.

Especially nice are the neck shape and the raglan/cable sleeve shaping.

Oh, let's not forget putting that zipper in the front smoothly! That deserves an award!
