22  what to do with animal, car and boat buttons? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by kneat on: June 14, 2006 02:33:52 PM
i bought two large bags of beads on monday. both are just random mixes. one bag though, contains beads in the shapes of various animals. unfortunately i left my camera in my friend's car and will not be able to get it. the company that i bought them from has pictures of similar buttons, but not the actual animals i have (which is weird, but whatever)

these are some similar buttons:

The buttons I have are lions, cats, fish, elephants, giraffes, old fashioned cars(they look alot like the trains in the last picture) and boats that look like noah's arc with a steam boat pipe thing sticking out the top

i have some elastic, but i'm not sure exactly what i want to do with these. i have the worst time getting myself to use materials i really like. i'm afraid i'll waste them.

i'd love some help Smiley

23  Re: hat knit on straight needles - needs an owl in Knitting: Completed Projects by kneat on: June 07, 2006 04:52:51 PM
There's actually a type of embroidery that might work for a chunky-knit hat, as long as it's not too stretchy.  After you draw the owl on with a light colored marking pencil, take around worsted weight yarn (maybe slightly thicker) in the color he wants, and outline the owl with that.  Just place it down on top.  Then you take regular sewing thread (matching or contrasting the yarn, depending on what you want), and tack the yarn down.  It works quite well.

oh wow i love that idea! i just don't know how well it will work for the image he wants:

i received from the wonderful roxybadoxy

i love this bag. i seriously carry it around everywhere including the very un-fun drivers ed.

ah what a fantastic bag! i love the pattern and i love the tied (i don't know the fashion appropriate term) strap

she also sent me two crochet hooks, wax paper for stenciling, and a yummy lemon meriengue(sp?) lipgloss

25  hat knit on straight needles - needs an owl in Knitting: Completed Projects by kneat on: June 05, 2006 10:48:18 AM
here we go!

so i KNOW it says hat knit on straight needles, but i knit it with circular needles. the thing is, it wasn't joined to work in continuous rounds. i simply used a circular needle because i like my needles conjoined so i dont' lose one needle while i'm not working on a project.

i made this for my friend, Erik. he wants me to embroider (or something of that nature) an own onto it with yellow thread. the only thing is, i don't know how to transfer an image onto a black hat. any suggestions? i could use the help Smiley

there is a seam where i sewed the piece together so it would be a hat but hopefully he won't care.

sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. i made these slippers from this pattern -> http://www.crochetme.com/frolicking

i made them in one weekend while traveling to arkansas and back.

i want to make them wearable (who wouldn't want to show these babies off?) so i'm trying to figure out some sort of sole i can attatch. if anyone has any ideas i'd really appreciate it.

29  Re: Unconditional Swap April Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kneat on: May 02, 2006 04:04:14 PM
I recieved a tote bag from porfiry! AMAZING

as a knitter/crocheter/craftster all around i find a normal tote bag is not big enough for me

and i take all my crafting stuff to school and craft. what a wonderful use of highschool education time Smiley

so i needed a very large bag to carry school stuff AND various crafting items.

and i need no more thanks to the super swapper Porfiry!

Sorry the pictures aren't very good. I can't really capture the original color.

Here's a cute little card she sent me. Yes, there is flash, but believe me it's adorable:
