1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Good yarn stores in Maine? on: April 09, 2007 05:03:58 PM
So I am getting married in May and for our honeymoon, we are going to drive to Maine, do a little shopping and decide from there where we want to go.  Can anyone recommend any good yarn stores I could visit along the way?  I am not sure exactly what part of Maine we'll be at....definately the Vermont area, and from there who knows...but if there are some places I *need* to visit I'm sure my wonderful hubby wouldn't mind dropping by Smiley

Thanks
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Short Row Heel Help? on: February 25, 2007 06:39:37 AM
Ok, so I have been wanting to make socks for the past year or so...  What I really want is to make socks with short row heels.  I have tried and tried and I just don't quite understand how to do it.  I have found a few online tutorials, but I need to actually see someone doing it.  Does anyone know of any videos online that show how to make a short row heel?  I have searched youtube and did a google search, but didn't come up with anything.  Embarrassed  I have finally broke down and made one baby sock with a heel flap and I am not too fond of it.  I like the look of short rows much better!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Smiley
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Silly Baby Hat Patterns? on: January 27, 2007 01:06:45 PM
Ok, so my SIL-to be (in less than 4 months) and her hubby had a baby girl 4 months ago.  She is the cutest little thing and I have been knitting like crazy for her ever since.

Even though I have made her tons of cute little hats already, I want to make her some silly ones.  I have already made her some plain ones, an earflap hat, a shrek hat.

I have searched everywhere I can think of...google, knitty, knitting pattern central, craftster, but no luck.  Here are the some of the ones I have found so far (in case anyone else can use them), but they aren't screaming "make that!" to me at the moment.

If anyone has any suggestions on where I could find some cute, silly or just plain crazy baby hats.  I would really appreciate it.  Thanks!   Grin
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Wind-up butterflies - Anyone know how to make em? on: August 09, 2006 05:30:34 PM
Hope this is the right spot for this.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to make those wind up butterflies that Hallmark was selling awhile ago to put into cards.  You wind them up and put them in the card.  Then when the card is open the butterfly comes flying out.  Anyone know of a tutorial anywhere?  I've searched and can't find anything.

Thanks for your help!   Smiley
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Waterproof inkjet paper? on: August 06, 2006 08:19:02 AM
Hi, I hope this is the right thread to post this in!

I am looking for waterproof paper.  I know it sounds odd, but I came across this: http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/85x11-Waterproof-INKJET-Vinyl-Label-pr-405.html

Anyone have any experience with this?  It sounds pretty cool.  I am making personalized water bottle labels for our wedding and want something where the ink won't smudge off onto your hands or worse...dress (eek!).  This sounds like just the stuff I need.  The only problem is that I don't want to pay a fortune for it.  The pricing is very reasonable on that site, but the shipping when calculated was more than the cost of the paper!  Anyone know where else I could get this?  I searched ebay but can't find anything.   Undecided

Thanks!   Roll Eyes
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What to make with this yummy yarn? on: March 22, 2006 08:48:07 AM
I bought this awhile ago at a Thrift shop.  It's made by Stahl Wolle called Lambada.  On the tag it says 55% Baumwolle Mercerisert 45% Viscose.  (whatever that means)  Its reminds me of embroidery floss, only thicker, with a beautiful shine.  I have 2 balls of each color, 50g each.  Its very soft and silky feeling.  I want to make something fabulous out of this, but I have knitters block.  Any ideas?
