Awesome furniture! I am too trying to do something like this - together with the rest of my family we're making a night table. We also used the Camille Carton tutorial.

This I guess is only the start because we're absolutely stunned by the possibilities of making furniture just like we want, and with those cooooooool curves like you have in yours!

Hi all, I'd like to direct your attention to the crafty part of a campaign for human rights.

Crafty people can support the campaign The Color Orange for human rights by making orange items and donating them to people who will attend the Olympic Games or related events.

From the Color Orange website  http://www.thecolororange.net/:
“We are launching the project The Color Orange to highlight the violations of the human rights in China on the occasion of the Olympic Games in Beijing August 2008.

The idea is both sophisticated and simple: We want to introduce The Color Orange as a symbol of the protest against the human rights violations in China. The strict censorship can ban the use of obvious symbols of human rights, but the use of The Color Orange cannot be banned.

So we will encourage sports people and spectators to make vast and creative use of the color for clothing and all sorts of accessories. It can be anything, like an orange hat, camera bag, tie, pen, paper, dress, suit, bag etc. Even pealing an orange will be considered a poignant statement.”

Contacts between crafters and receivers of orange wearables are made through use of Flickr, a website for free publishing of photographs. Crafters will make a picture of their crafted orange item and receivers can contact the crafter directly by commenting on their picture or sending a mail message through Flickr. Receivers are asked to make a picture of them wearing the item, preferably at the OG, and posting the picture on flickr too. There is a Flickr special interest group for this purpose, you find it here: http://flickr.com/groups/755098@N22
The pictures posted to the group are public - anyone can see them.

The group will function as a galery for the crafted items as well as a galery of people wearing handcrafted, orange items at the Olympics or related events, thereby also contributing to raising awareness.The Flickr medium also provides for a discussion forum about the craft part of the campaign. However, we will also try (in the Flickr group and in coordination with the overall campaign) to find other ways to get items to be worn at the Olympic Games.

From your description, I do not think the bookcovering paper is the same as what you call 'contact'paper. The paper i am talking about is not sticky on one side. It is paper that is quite glossy on one side, and it mostly has some kind of pattern on it. It is used normally to wrap around schoolbooks, so they keep nice longer, but it doesn't stick to the book itself.

But since it has this glossy, plastic coating on one side, it works like freezer paper.

Living in Denmark, I was truly irritated at the fact that I could not get freezer paper anywhere. The other day I stood with a roll of, I thought, gift paper. It turned out not to be gift paper but book-covering paper. On the label it said: This paper is coated with plastic for extra endurance. Do you ever have moments where you can almost see that little lightbulb appearing next to your head? Well this was one.

I tried it out and it actually works. A roll of plastic-coated book covering paper costs 19 danish kroner, that's about 3.5 dollars, and it is a couple of meters.  The colours on it do not matter - although if you want to trace motives through it, you may find this easier with a light colour. The colours do not stick to the fabric. I found out not to go over the stencil with the iron (on hot for cotton) more then once (if you do that EVERYTHING will stick - eventually it will come off and you'll still have a nice result but that will take hours...).
