1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Dishalicious Dishcloth/Washcloth Swap - - round 4 ? on: April 16, 2008 01:59:43 PM
I'd like to do this... i knit lots of dishcloths, so this would be a good way to get rid of a couple, at least.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Blind leading the blind, or my daughter wants to learn too on: April 06, 2008 07:13:30 PM
For someone that little, I'd use bulky weight and a 6 mm hook or larger; it's easier for little hands.  also, make sure the yarn is smooth-- don't use eyelash or novelty yarns, the stitches are hard to see.  For the same reason, use bright or light colored yarn.
The first thing I ever made was a long chain, which I coiled around and sewed together to make a potholder.  Also, I made blankets and rugs for my Barbies; if she's into dolls, there's an idea.  Or a little purse for herself, or maybe a headband.  Those are small items, they don't take a lot of time, and she can show off her work to her friends.
I would go ahead and show her the stitches you know, but go slowly.  Wait until you and she are confident she knows one stitch before you teach her the next one.
Good luck, and keep us posted on her progress!
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Stuffed Hobbes (from Calivin and Hobbes) *first post* on: March 20, 2008 06:56:27 PM
I LOVE Hobbes!  and I love your version; you got the face just right.  I hope your bf likes it.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question re: heels and 2 socks/2 circs, toe up on: March 19, 2008 01:32:24 PM
I recently did two socks on two circs, but when I came to the heel, I worked each one seperately.  I used the short row heel, and it went really fast.
5  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Beginner's Top-Down Raglan (patt. incl.) on: March 12, 2008 09:52:53 PM
Well, that camera angle and those stripes are being kind to me.  Which is another thing i love about that sweater: my swelling belly is less in your face when I wear (I've worn it three days running; my bf is now hiding it from me because he doesn't want tolook at it anymore)!
6  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Great Knit Cloth-along of 2008 on: March 12, 2008 09:50:48 PM
I've been so busy with knitting other things, I haven't done a cloth in a couple weeks.  That woven cloth looks amazing- far better than mine turned out! i'd also like to see the terry yarn; if it's textured the way I think it is, I'd think simple cloths would work best with it.
7  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Beginner's Top-Down Raglan (patt. incl.) on: March 12, 2008 11:18:39 AM

Finally finished it!  I frogged the sleeves and put some ribbing there instead.  I. Love. This. Sweater.  It's roomy and comfy, two qualitites that are important when you're six months pregnant, like I am.  My mom is having total sweater envy, too.  She said she'll buy the yarn if I'll knit one for her (without the belly increases, though).

I'm glad I'm done it, though.
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Free Pattern - Chey's Little Hockey Sweater on: March 12, 2008 09:25:46 AM
Very cute.  I've got to get our team colors for this!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Spring Knitty is Up on: March 11, 2008 01:23:14 PM
I totally love the salto socks!  I also like talia, marjorie, and honeycomb- I would wear those.  Also, the lace ribbon scarf is pretty.  I might make it for my mom for mother's day.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: DIY Panic! at the Disco tee, handwritten letters! Please Check It Out! on: February 29, 2008 08:33:59 PM
Your lettering is so neat, I thought it was stenciled!  That's awesome!
