Okay do i was volounteering at a grade 1/2 classroom for several weeks, and there are such sweet kids, and apparently im gettign a 'surprise' next week, since i have to go back to school, i am stoppign by there for it, and i was thinkign of maybe getting a little gifty thing for the kids for cheap, like i was thinking of:

-a plate of cookies(i have some premade ones that just need to be stuck in the oven(oatmealraison, so idk if the kids will like them...)
-a bag of mini candycanes(maybe stick a little card around each one)

hmm what should i do?? theres about 20 kids..
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / jewelry/accessories to make for fundraising? on: November 19, 2006 07:59:31 PM
Im planning on have a fundraiser party thing where i can sell like a line of jewelery/beaded accessories( possibly perler beads?) to raise money for the Samaritans Purse/World Vision organization.
And i know a design for cancer awareness, but is there any kind of symbol that could represent the thirdworld moneyraising awareness that i could make using perler beads?
Because i have 2 possibly 3 buckets of perlerbeads and i want to use them to fundraise for the cause.
If not is there any kind of simple designs of jewelery or keychains i can use?

thanks!

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / importance of a serger? on: September 24, 2006 08:59:24 PM
i bought a sewing machine but i haven't used it as much as i would like to, mainly because of the stupid edging of fabric which i need a serger for, so is it really important to have a serger if im just planning on making purses/wallets etc...
also i bought my sewing machine at sears(their brand) and thankfully it was on sale Cheesy but im wondering what do you think of their sergers there and if they have cheaper ones elsewhere?
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Fashion Show! on: August 08, 2006 11:00:41 AM
hey i have decided actually for my next birthday im going to hold it at my local hall and have a runway set up and me and a few closest friends will be the models and have a photoshoot, but im not sure what else i should do...since i dont want it to be too expensive and luckily i can use the hall for free, so maybe have a manicure station set up or something cause theres going to be quite a few people.

so what other ideas can i do?? since its 'fashion theme'
6  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Fundraising birthday party on: July 22, 2006 02:08:50 PM
For my 17th birthday i want to do a fundraising birthday party instead of a normal one, since i don't really want any more stuff and i think its rude to ask for just gift certificates for my birthday, so i decided to help others instead.
Instead of getting me presents i was thinking they could bring a donation for World Vision(a group that helps people in 3rd world countyr's) or i was thinking i could make jewellry or gift baskets and auction them off for it, and I think that i will have a mother daughter thing so i can get more bidders for the baskets.
but i was wondering what other activities i could do to make it more fun and what theme, especially if the moms are coming..

Please help! even though its not for awhile, i need to get ideas so that i can start making jewlery ahead of time, and figure out what to put in the baskets as well as activities.!!!!

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / crimps on memory wire? on: July 02, 2006 03:06:27 PM
ok i recently bought some memory wire in bracelet and necklace sizes
and im pretty much finished my friends necklace im making for her birthday, well anyway i wanted to put crimps on to hold the beads in place since i wasn't going to cover the whole wire with beads, but every time i try securing them, they still stay loose, yet the crimps will work on other wire, so i figured the crimps won't work on memory wire,...but i have seen them on other memory wire bracelets that i have seen online like on etsy shops and stuff...so how can i make the crimps stay? Huh

help?!

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Summer Backyard Party!! on: June 12, 2006 06:07:14 PM
hey!!
All this talk about partys has made me decide to have a summer party in my backyard this summer!!!
Heres the deal

*  i do technically have a pool, but its above ground and its really big but its sort of like a blowup one cause you can put it away for the winter.. but anyway its a fair size but i'm not sure if we're going to set it up this summer, i have to talk to my dad about it.
* so i figured that if he lets me set it up(with help of course since its like quite big) then i could have a swimming/tanning party.
but i need some more ideas about decorations and activities, b/c even if im not allowed to set it up, i still want to have a party.

* so since it's not going to be for my birthday i want to spend only a tiny bit of cash, since after all i am trying to save money etc.
* so what i'm going to do is have it in the afternoon so it's not during any mealtimes, and then ask everyone to bring a snack item(kind of like a potluck)

Does anyone have any activities or decoration ideas that i can have at the party? Cheesy

One of my friend is having a sweet sixteen party REALLYY soon and i have no idea what to get her! the problem is that she is planning on telling everyone to get giftcards for stores for her, but i don't really have a whole lot of  money to give her. and she really likes shopping, thats why she wants gift cards, and shes very materialistic, so i don't know how much she would appreciate something if it didn't cost alot of money..ideas please!
