31  Re: Invite your partner swap gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by Fortune_32 on: May 16, 2006 08:55:48 AM
I'm so glad it got there, and you like everything! The butterfly looks like it might have taken a beating in the mail, you can re-bend it into shape (it's wired together, not sewn.) I just wanted to share my favorite pic of the "Aschnebly"! It was so much fun to make, I made 2 and gave one to my Mom for Mother's day (She loved hers, too! Yeay!)
The leaves are 2 layers of fleece, the top is lighter, the lower is darker; I slashed the vein pattern into the lighter green before sewing them together, no way I was up to embroidering all those "veins"! LOL The tsumami (kanzashi) were also fun to make, I can't wait to make more!

If anybody wants to see better pics, I've got everything in a Flickr set - http://www.flickr.com/photos/43955293@N00/sets/72057594136634813/
Thanks for looking, and thanks for all of your kind comments, it's my first swap, and I didn't really suffer from swap anxiety! Thanks PBB - you rock!

32  Re: Kool-Aid dyed shoes with vintage rhinestones! in CHALLENGE 10 ENTRIES by Fortune_32 on: April 10, 2006 07:32:21 PM
Wow, I can't believe you sewed the rhinestones on!
OMG! I can't believe I did either! I stare at them in wonder of it all! LOL!

My fingers were almost numb - as I stupidly insisted on using my fingernails as thimbles! I'm too stubborn sometimes...
Anyhoo - here's more pics! I wanted to show the electric blue the Kool-Aid powder turned! I was so intimidated to use it, but it really achieved the aqua I was hoping for!

The rhinestones took like 4 hours to sew on...and the dyeing took all of 40 minutes (in between a few drying sessions). I wanted to redo the footbeds too, but I didn't have enough time Undecided Oh well!

Thanks roskate, Starwings20, noelle, junquette, Stifflersmom, kraphtee87, SidekickFancy,  and Sissychrissy1! I'm still pretty new around here, and your comments mean so much!
Thanks guys! Craftster rules!

33  Kool-Aid dyed shoes with vintage rhinestones! New pics on pg2! in CHALLENGE 10 ENTRIES by Fortune_32 on: April 06, 2006 06:50:47 PM
Whew! Again I pushed the deadline to the breaking point! At least I finished...LOL! Anyhoo, here are my Kool-Aid dyed mules, with beading & vintage rhinestones!

Here's how they started - White dyables (there's a smudge on one of the heels, I got them for 9$!)

And here's the finished product! I'm so proud, I think they came out great for my first Kool-Aid dyeing experiment!

I used 123 aqua rhinestones on the sides of the heels, and I sewed them all on by hand! I hope you guys like 'em! I am so proud of myself, I can't wait to wear them! More details in my blog if you're interested!

34  Re: BAG CHALLENGE :1: NIFTY THRIFTY! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by Fortune_32 on: April 01, 2006 05:07:50 PM
Well...being the Craftster newbie that I am... I read the rules as due by April 1st - meaning I still had today to do it! I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I sure hope my bag is still eligible, because I spent a lot of time & hard work finishing it! (I only started it a week ago!)

Here it is - my Recycled Overcoat it started as this...

And I turned it into this lovely black & purple flap bag!

I bought 2 dog collars for 1.49$ each, and 10ft of nylon rope for my piping at .15 cents/per foot. I'm not exactly sure how much tax was, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't over 50cents... Everything else I used was leftovers from other projects (or failed ones!)

If anybody wants details, I have more over at my blog - http://craftyginger.blogspot.com/. I hope I'm eligible! *crosses fingers*

35  Re: Felt Cakes! Now With Tutorial!!! in Completed Projects by Fortune_32 on: March 09, 2006 08:16:28 PM
OMG!!! This is such a great idea!!! Although I do love cakes & pies, I knew when I saw this thread I had to make a Tiffany box pincushion! Mine's not felt, but some aqua wool scraps I had around.
