261  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Not so typical tropical pleated skirt on: April 22, 2006 10:30:07 AM
I love the print of this fabric and how well it flows and flutters...

It has an invisible zipper in the back. It was my first time using an invisible zipper, and wow, I just can't wait to use them some more. They're just so perfect. I had to sew it on by hand though because I don't have the right foot for my machine.

I'm really proud of the way this turned out. It's so comfy and flattering. I wore it to school the other day and got lots of compliments. Yay, I just love bright, vibrant spring colours! Thanks for looking.

I don't remember what site I grabbed this image from, but, speaking of ruffly denim skirts, I always thought it was pretty awesome-

It looks pretty haphazard and easy to throw together since most of the edges are raw. I suggest using bright colours if you can. Good luck getting the guy!
263  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 10 ENTRIES / Pastel Patch Flats on: April 06, 2006 05:35:44 PM

I made these adorable pastel patched flats out of these gross, ugly old uniform shoes from grade six. I've been wearing them for cleaning and yardwork for the past six years, so they were pretty beat up-

I put them through the washer first. Then I cut off the top parts with the laces and tongues and went to town with scrap fabric.

I love how spring-ish they are. They're comfy too, and look great with jeans. Plus, I have a shirt that I made out of that same blue material, and I'm working on a sundress with the green.

This is my first time entering a craftster challenge, and it was really fun. Thanks for looking!

Wow, great job. My first project was a costume too.
265  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: And another Dragon-Hoodie on: March 24, 2006 01:41:01 PM
That's awesome, but if you're going to be a dragon then you're totally going to need some wings!

If you're a senior or junior and you get a ridiculous amount of college promo letters and flyers you could probably make something out of those. Maybe fanfold them and make a skirt. You could fanfold lots of stuff to make outfits- like old notes and homework papers, grocery bags or newspapers. Decorate it with some paper flowers. Watch out for paper cuts though, haha.

Or maybe you could find a pattern for an article of clothing and sew the pattern pieces together instead of cutting it on cloth. You'd probably have to line it or something though, and that's not exactly trash.

Hm, there's so much stuff you could do. I have a bunch of plastic target bags lying around. I bet they'd make an excellent raincoat. Milk jug purse? Aluminum can shoes? cereal box hat? Haha, hope this helped!

Great job, especially for your first project. I really like that print, and the skirt looks great. Well done.

Haha, of COURSE I know all about Dirty Dancing! I totally love that movie. The soundtrack is awesome too.

Thanks for all the love y'all. I'm 18 years old, by the way, and I agree that every woman needs a little black dress, hehe.
