1  Ice Cream Parlor / Breakfast Nook in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by magnagnet on: August 23, 2009 01:40:03 PM
Hello fellow craftsters, here's my obligatory "I haven't posted any of my crafts in forever, but here's one now." posts.

Before this was my great great grandmother's set of ice cream parlor chairs and table she kept in her bed and breakfast where she let sailors stay for free, and made donuts for all the tenants at 3 a.m. every morning

And now it's my new breakfast nook! The table cloth is just picnic table vinyl, it's like $2/yd and I've got a lot left over for an actual picnic!

Excited!

2  ANOTHER floral skirt? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by magnagnet on: February 03, 2009 12:57:34 AM
So I love floral skirts, and to prove it, here's a picture of what I was wearing when I was making this skirt

On to the skirt. Hancock's is having a pattern sale, all butterick patterns are $1.99 so I got a whole handful. I sewed this skirt, B5285

I haven't hemmed it yet because I'm not sure if I want to bring it above knee length or not, but I'll hem it eventually... maybe  Roll Eyes

3  Oh Wilma, my patience is wearing thin! in Halloween Costumes by magnagnet on: November 05, 2008 06:49:53 PM
Hey crafty cats, I spent two weeks making my friend Tae and I Wilma Flintstone, and Betty Rubble costumes.

Close up

I made them with jersey, and fun fur. I also made matching purses, and we drew on Barney and Fred tattoos, since we didn't have dates! haha
We also wrote on pebbles and handed them out over the night, they said things like "your costume rocks!"

4  milkshake cupcakes in Dessert by magnagnet on: July 31, 2008 01:59:48 AM
I haven't posted on craftster in forever, but I still lerk constantly. I was sad today so I decided to make myself feel better by whipping up some sweet treats! I used the william's sonoma cupcake kit, and a couple decorating ideas from the interwebs, etc haha. They were deeeelicious, and adorable!

I hopped on the bandwagon and made some for my english class! I loooove these, they were so much fun to make. This was my first time *really* decorating pastries.

7  Nautical cabinet! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by magnagnet on: May 27, 2007 10:49:34 AM
So my beau and I found a cabinet-type-thing next to a dumpster. It had these weird legs on it, so we kicked them off... and went crazy.
Here's what she looked like when we started:

and here she is now! We painted parts of it navy blue (it probably looks black in these pictures.)

Here's a close up of the handles, they're little cardboard.. uhh.. things? From Michael's we got them for a quarter each and just super glued them on haha.

And the swirly design on the top is actually a rope inlay, I saw them do it on the DIY network, you carve a design into the wood and then glue the rope in, so we did that and then painted the rope to match:

And just for height comparisons(i'm 5"4)--

Tell me what you think!

++ We also got 50 comic books for $5 at half price books this weekend, and we're going to collage them all inside the cabinet, we wanted to do it on the actual cabinet, but it would've clashed with our nautical theme.... so we decided to hide it!

8  I'm Poison Ivyyyy in Halloween Costumes by magnagnet on: October 30, 2006 05:17:03 PM
So for halloween I was poison Ivy, batman's nemesis. I tried to make a dress that resembled an Ivy leaf but it was more difficult than I planned. So I just made a green jersey knit dress. To finish my costume  I stitched some Ivy leaves onto some gloves, and bobby pinned them in my wig.

and I spray painted some thrift store heels to match.

Thanks kidderoonies!  Grin Grin
As for the close up of the fabric:

Don't mind the cat claw, she just loves being in front of the camera.
And here's a close up of the bodice:

Next order of business: The pattern was McCall's M4868, and I got it for a $1 at hancocks, good times.
I'm glad you guys like it as much as I do!

10  Testing my new machine. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by magnagnet on: May 24, 2006 11:38:18 PM
Papa suprised me with a new singer, and I just had to give it a test drive. Frustrating at first so I just reconed a tee into a frilly-tuby-toppy thing.
