1  Come Crit Me! Etsy Store Area Thrifty One in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by Thrifty-One on: July 25, 2006 02:13:56 PM
I've just recently opened on etsy and would love some feedback from all the crafty folk here. Good or bad, I can take it! What do you think of my purses, bags, pillows? What about my prices, info, descriptions, bio?

There are so many great crafters on this forum and I would love feedback and any advice, criticisms etc.

Here's the link: http://areathriftyone.etsy.com

2  Cute As Anything Drawstring Backpack in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: July 25, 2006 06:10:15 AM
I so loved this bag by EmilyinOrbit http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=103725.0
that I was inspired to make my own, but wanted to give it a personal touch.

Also I've been trying so hard to be good and only use what's in my stash, so this is what I came up with:

I straight line quilted all over the outside. The bag has cotton batting as an interlining. The construction took a bit of fiddling around with to be sure the batting didn't interfere with the drawstring closure.

Here's an interior shot:

It has a big interior patch pocket.

So, what do you guys think? Especially thoughts on the fabric combo would be great. I love feedback! Thanks in advance!

3  Retro Green Purse with Flowers and Birds in Love! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: July 06, 2006 02:16:58 PM
Both the fabrics for this purse were thrifted, but it's like they were made for each other! I love those greens!

The purse is lined with the same fabric that I used for the applique. It closes with a magnetic snap. Here's the inside view:

On the inside is one patch pocket, that I divided to give a cell phone sized pocket. There's a lil' applique heart on the pocket too.

I love comments and feedback, so tell me what you think!

4  80's style wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: June 28, 2006 02:01:02 AM
I used the awesome tutorial for the "Super Cute Wallet" (its in the Ultimate Tutorial List) but changed the sizes a little, to make this wallet.

The images on the front and inside were put on using heat transfer paper. The wallet is made from a bright green cotton and I used a very heavy interfacing to keep the wallet stiff and sturdy.

I chose the colours and images to give an 80's vibe.
I made this wallet as a going away present for my favorite brother, who is moving to the other side of the world.  Cry

What do you think? I love comments!

5  Two Polka Dot Purses: Toadstools and Flying Birds in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: June 21, 2006 12:35:49 PM
I so love blue and brown together! I couldn't decide which fabric to have as outside and which inside, so I made two purses!

Here's the first:

The cool polka dot is on the lining, the inside of the strap and of course the appliqued toadstools. The button is just decorative, there's a magnetic snap under the flap, and one slash pocket inside.

And the next purse:

This one is lined in the plain blue, and has three flying birds appliqued on it. It's the same deal with the magnetic snap, but it has a patch pocket inside just so I could add more polka dots!

I love feedback - what do you think? Which one is your favorite?

6  Ric-Rac Attack! Pillows / Cushions in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: June 02, 2006 01:31:25 PM
I love this fabric soooo much, would love curtains in it! The original fabric is a printed ric-rac stripe which I cut and sewed to make into squares on the pillow fronts.

The backs are plain white, with a piece of "real" ric-rac detail, the buttons are covered with the same fabric:

What do you think? I love feedback!

7  The Bag that nearly drove me insane! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: June 01, 2006 01:05:48 PM
Everything went wrong making this bag - I was so in love with the lining fabric and so excited about using it, then had disaster after disaster (won't go into it - lots of looonng stories!).

Anyway, now it's finished... I think I hate it. Grrrrr. At the last minute I changed my mind about the height of the bag so made it shorter, so now the inside pockets are too high! Wanted a tapering A-line shape and I think it's not obvious enough, also think it's too thin and tall, there's something ugly in the proportions somewhere...

Here are pics, could you guys criticise? Tell me what's wrong with it.... thanks!

Bag outer, the button is decorative it closes with a magnetic snap fastener, and the applique is made from the lining fabric:

Inside pocket and beautiful lining fabric:

Other inside pockets, for sketchbook and pencil... see how stupidly high they are...

Here's an action shot, sorry about my jammies!

8  Botanical Bag! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: May 21, 2006 01:22:19 PM
I love the shape of this bag http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=3105.0, so I made it a bit bigger, and with a longer handle, coz I prefer a "hands-free" type of bag. The fabric is Ikea, I love the bold print. Any comments and criticisms? please! Here's the action shot:

...and here's the inside, it has a slash pocket on one side, you can just see the pocket in this pic, it kinda blends in.

Hope you like it!

9  Tinkering with Jordys in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Thrifty-One on: May 07, 2006 12:22:11 PM
Hi - this is my first completed projects post, so feel free to let rip with comments, criticism etc.

This is my first ever Jordy bag, I made it for my sister

Three Jordys later, and lots of tinkering with strap length and width and types of interfacing, I made these two bags, a jordy style messenger and an a-line jordy which is lined with a very colourful folk art style fabric.

and a few zippered pouches, just for the helluvit,

They're lined with the same fabric as I used on the embellishments.

So, what d'ya think?
